Hey, Kids!
Today I will be reviewing the October Allure Beauty Box.
For $15.00 per month you will receive a box containing 5 or more deluxe sized beauty products from today’s most luxurious brands.
One of my favorite things about the Allure Beauty Box is how carefully it is curated and the awesome little mini mag that is included in each box. It gives excellent descriptions and tips for each item in the box with a descriptive and down to earth introduction to the boxes content. I love the beauty directors honest representation of each product.
*If you read my June review you will notice that it is a bit different than that of this and the past several months. What was once Allure/Sample Society and affiliated with BeautyBar.com has underwent a change and has now been rebranded as the ‘Allure Beauty Box‘. I’ve been loving all of the boxes under the new branding and really look forward to receiving it each month!
The Box:
The Goods:
Jouer Daily Repair Treatment Oil: This is a deluxe sample size. The full size product is $48.00 for 1 oz
This is an anti-aging oil designed to moisturize and reduce fine lines and pores without irritation with Rose-hip and micro-algae oils for antioxidants, bioretinol for boosting collagen and grape-seed, starflower and pomegranate oils to moisturize. It is said to plump fine lines immediately but with major benefits in preventing further damage and future wrinkles. -Allure sent out this oil as well as another Jouer formula designed to lock in moisture, reduce redness and kill acne causing bacteria. Each recipient received one or the other. I really like the results that I get from this oil and it truly does plump my skin with just one use, (even more so when paired with the Kaplan MD product I received in the September Box.) The price on this is much more reasonable than that of the Kaplan MD product by a long shot and they both work really well at plumping the laugh lines around my mouth. I do continue to worry that the oils are going to clog my pores and cause a massive break-out. I know many say the oils have helped this issue as opposed to exacerbated their condition but I had a bad experience when the oil craze first began so I am ever skeptical when it comes to oils on my facial skin. So far, so good and I have my fingers crossed as the benefits are excellent. I do wish I had received the other version though it seems like it would have been the better fit for my skin. I really like this though and if my breakouts remain at bay I may just purchase this Jouer oil.
Bumble and Bumble All-Style Blow Dry Cream: This is a deluxe size sample. The full size product is $30.00 for 5 oz
This is a lightweight styling cream that smooths hair without making it flat. It is designed to fight frizz, protect against heat damage and extend the length of your blowout. It’s light and silky with a floral scent. The difference between this product and other heat protectants is that it is designed to also work like a dry shampoo; volumizing, so even when you sleep you do not wake with flat matted roots. It also helps to repel moisture. Well, I have naturally beach wavy hair and can not remember the last time I gave my self a blow out: years. It’s just too time consuming with all of my hair. Kills my arms and back! 😦 So; I typically put oil in my hair and other leave-ins whilst allowing my hair to air-dry. If I decide I want to wear it straight, I use my straightening iron. This product did work well for that too…but I’m sure it works better as designed. I also added a small amount to my dry hair over the weekend and it smoothed it out and improved the look of it some as well. It’s a nice product and I am a fan of Bumble and Bumble but not really something I need. I have plenty of others that work perfect for my styling needs. I will hang on to it in case I ever get a hankering for an at home blow out though. 😉 haha!
Rituals Ginkgo’s Secret Ginseng & Ginkgo Biloba Hand Balm: This product is full size $17.00 for 2.5 oz
This non-greasy Hand cream is designed to hydrate and heal dry, cracking hands with glycerin, shea butter, dimethicone (moisturize) and ginseng extract (antioxidant) I own several products from this brand and love all of them. I actually own the Ginseng and Ginkgo Miracle scrub to pair with this hand balm and it’s excellent stuff. Glad I got this product to use in conjunction with it. The hand balm smells nice, just like the scrub, and is super thick yet absorbs quickly and is not greasy. It works really well on very dry hands.
Red Flower Lymphatic Phytopower sea cleanser and masque: This is a deluxe sample. Full size product is $42.00 for 8.8 oz
This is a cream cleanser that doubles as a moisturizing mask with Aloe-leaf juice, vegetable derived glycerin and grape-seed oil; (moisturize) chaga, reishi and maitake mushrooms + algae extract as antioxidants and citric acid to exfoliate. Its consistency is similar to a hair conditioner and the scent is a very light citrus. I first washed my face with this and found it to be very gentle. I decided to take a second go at it and use it as a mask. I applied it to my whole face while in the tub and rinsed it off after about 10 minutes. I found the masks ingredients to be very calming for my skin and it felt soft and clean. My only qualm with this product was the bottle design. It is made of a hard, non-squeezable plastic bottle with out an appropriate method to dispense the product so you just have to kind of tap it hard and repeatedly against your palm until some globs out of the bottle. I doubt I’ll ever be able to get all of the product dispensed. I would hope that the full size version has a proper method for dispensing the product. Otherwise it was a really great product.
Cargo Eye Shadow in OZ: Product is full size and is $16.00
This is a powder eyeshadow in 4 shades which you can use wet or dry. The formula of this shadow is nice. The swatch on my hand is used dry. I assume used wet it will up the vibrancy. I tried it on my eyes but did not like it at all. It looked very odd with my complexion, like my eye area was jaundice. Not a good look. A little in the corner of the eye might be OK but all over was not a good look for me. Not a big fan, mostly due to the color.
Kryolan Lipstick Matt in Aurora, Eos and Nike: This is a 3 color mini pot sample. full sized lipsticks are 19.50 ea.
This is a bright, intensely pigmented, not-going-anywhere matte lipstick. The formula is matte, opaque, and has a smooth silky feel to it. I find that the formula is not really drying like some matte lipsticks are and have a nice silky/satiny feel to them. The colors are brighter than that of what I typically wear but nice to have around for when I’m feeling daring. There is actually quite a bit of product in each of these little pots so they will last me forever.
Thanks for Reading!
Until Next Time…
