For those of you that are new to the game:

Ipsy is a monthly subscription service.  Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Members can watch and play along with the stylists with the same products that they are using. All for only $10 a month.

I have been a member for more than 2 years and I absolutely love it.  I have discovered so many excellent products through Ipsy!  I may not always love everything I receive but for only 10.00 a month it is such a fun surprise to look forward to each month!  Ipsy spotlights numerous brands each month and you will generally receive something from 5 of them!  In addition to the products received you will get discount codes from most brands…even the ones that you do not receive!  This months’ discounts include but are not limited to: Crown Brush, Demeter, It Cosmetics, Josie Maran, Model Co…the discounts range between 10% -50% off purchase (averaging at 20-25%) and are occasionally a dollar amount.  They sometimes include a gift with purchase.  Ipsy also now offers curated sets and other products throughout the month that can be purchased at a special price!  I LOVE THESE!  Another perk is the point system.  You can review your bag and items each month to save points for additional products! last month I used my Ipsy points to add the Chella blonde/taupe brow pencil to my bag.  I love Chella products and this is my all time favorite brow pencil.

*NEW* several months back Ipsy also added giveaways to their site!  Every month, you can win AMAZING hauls from their Glam Bag partners..and let me tell you there are SO many great ones this month…Smashbox Cosmetics,  Colourpop Cosmetics, Demeter, Benefit and many more.  I can’t wait to play along on instagram and enter all of them.!

The Goods:

Smashbox Full Exposure

Smashbox Cosmetics Full Exposure Mascara Jet Black: Mascara Mini (travel size) $9.00 (full size product is $20.00)

I use a lot of Smashbox products, some for many years and I love them but I can’t remember ever using any of their mascaras.  This was a spoiler this month and I believe that everyone received this mascara.  I was happy to be getting it.  I used this mascara for several days in a row…I never fully judge a mascara based on just one or two uses as I find it takes a bit to get the brush fully coated before it performs at its best.  There is nothing wrong with this mascara, the brush is nice, it separates lashes well without clumping…but that’s about it.  It does not give me that extra something I require in my mascaras.  I found myself looking at the wand several times to see if it was getting enough product on it…Is this thing empty?  LOL  With so many excellent mascaras on the market today this one just doesn’t give me the desired effect of extra black, thick and lengthened lashes.  Its definitely so-so for me.

hey honey

Hey Honey Come Clean Propolis & Minerals Facial Scrub: Deluxe Sample (travel mini) full size 2.2 oz is $23.00

I’ve had the opportunity to try several product from this line/brand now and I have really liked each of them.  This scrub is definitely my favorite of the bunch though.  It exfoliates my dry, sensitive skin without irritation and leaves it feeling baby soft after just one use.  My favorite aspect of this scrub is that you apply it as a scrub and exfoliate in circular motions, you then add a little water a bit at a time and the exfoliants dissolve in to a cleanser for the ultimate cleansing and smoothing experience.  Excellent product.

Crown Brush

Crown Brush Deluxe Pointed Crease Brush: Brush is 4.95

I have received several Crown Brush Shadow Brushes through Ipsy, all different and have liked each of them.  This one is great too.  It’s nice that I now have a large selection of different shadow brushes to fit various needs instead of just a couple options!

Exotic and spicy

Aromachology Exotic and spicy: Rollerball mini, Full size is $55.00 for 1 oz

I keep holding out that I will one day receive a Demeter fragrance as they are quite often one of the monthly products.  In nearly 3 years I’ve somehow not yet received one.  I have, however received some really bizarre and foul smelling fragrances in that time frame.  This one isn’t that, per say, but I’m not a fan.  The bottom notes are great but the top notes are not.  It must be the honeysuckle that makes me dislike it so.  Not a fan of the scent but I love the little mini rollerball and the brand itself looks quite nice.  This is just not the scent for me.

luxie

Luxie Matte Shadow Pan #290 Full size Pan $6.00

I never get too excited about single Pan Cosmetic products.  I have very few of them and b/c of this I’ve not purchased a good palette of any sort to contain them.  I have so many shadows and shadow palettes I came pretty close to simply tossing this..if not for the dark, dusty, purple hued matte shade, that I love, I likely would have and I am glad that I didn’t.  (click link for a more accurate shade depiction, my photos were not bringing out the purple in this shade) This is an excellent, well pigmented, long lasting shadow with all kinds of other good for you qualities.  A long time ago I received a tiny concealer pan from Ipsy that worked well for me so I grabbed a cheap-y E.L.F palette to contain it, it was too small for the circular pan holders but I kept it in there anyway and to my delight this shadow pan fits perfectly in said palette.  I think I am going to invest in a Doll up case so I have a means for good pan makeup that I want to frequently use.  If you have not seen these cases, you must.  they are absolutely darling!

Below are a couple photos; a swatch of this shade with and without shadow primer and a photo of the pan in the E.L.F palette quad.

Luxie Shadow Pan fits perfectly in E.L.F palette quad (shade is a bit more accurate in this photo.)
