Allure Beauty Box January 2016

Hey Beauty Fans!

Today I will be reviewing the January Allure Beauty Box.

For $15.00 per month you will receive a box containing 5 or more deluxe sized beauty products from today’s most luxurious brands.

One of my favorite things about the Allure Beauty Box is how carefully it is curated and the awesome little mini mag that is included in each box.  It gives excellent descriptions and tips for each item in the box with a descriptive and down to earth introduction to the boxes content.  I love the beauty directors honest representation of each product.

The Goods:

Trust Fund Beauty Champagne

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Champagne Problems: This product is full size and is $15.00

I already own several Trust Fund Beauty Polishes, including the similar Rose gold hue, Champagne Socialite and this one is just as lovely.  This polish is really easy to apply and looks good even as a single coat.  With it’s minimalist yet high end looking design, stellar formula and great shades, it quickly became a favorite polish brand of mine.  If that’s not enough…it’s also 7 free, cruelty free, vegan and non toxic.

Skinn Caviar Lip Cream

Skinn Cosmetics Caviar Lip Cream in Ruby: This product is full size and is $22.00

This lip cream is formulated with Caviar extract and claims to provide long wearing color as well as lips that appear firmer, smoother, and younger, while providing an extraordinary level of hydration.  I’m not going to lie; I wasn’t thrilled about another bright red lip product but this is a really stellar formula.  The finish and feel of the product is really nice but my favorite thing about it is that you can use it as a full coverage cream color or more like a stain when smoothing a small amount of product over your pout. (not quite the staying power though) Surprisingly this makes it really wearable for me.  It also works well on my really dry lips, hydrates them and has no stickiness whatsoever.

Mally evercolor eyeliner

Mally Beauty Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Liner in Black Navy: This product is full size and is $20.00

Another full sized product!  This is a dark navy, waterproof liner with a tapered blending brush on the other end.  I typically steer clear of any blue eye makeup products..they still carry that whole Kelly Bundy 80’s stigma for me, especially with my blonde hair, blue eyes…I really like this though.  It’s barely blue so it does not give off the same vibe to me yet helps my blue eyes stand out.  I thought the brush on the end was kind of different but if you use it right away it does an excellent job of blending or blurring the product and is worlds more effective than any of those smudgers you typically find on the other end of liners.  The formula itself isn’t the best I own, but it’s pretty good and I’d purchase again based on the color and the brush for sure.  Oh and if you are wondering about the waterproof aspect, it’s really waterproof and and will require a waterproof eye makeup remover.

Schmidts Natural Deodorant

Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant in Lavender + Sage: Deluxe Sample.  Full size is $8.99 for 20z

This is an all natural, vegan and cruelty free deodorant.  It comes in a jar and you must apply it with your fingers.  It has kind of an odd, gritty texture and does not go on all that easily.  The scent is really nice though.  Despite the application method unpleasantries my real issue with the product is that it just simply didn’t cut it for me.  If; however, your one caveat is the application method then your in luck; it is also available in a stick formula.

Erno Laszlo Eye Refiner

Erno Laszlo Transphuse Eye Refiner: .03 oz sample tube. Full size is $105.00 for .5 oz

This is a highly moisturizing eye cream designed to decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with lots of fancy as well as plant based ingredients that claim to plump and tighten the skin.  This is a pretty thick, moisturizing cream that says night time yet absorbs quickly allowing it to work well for day time use.  I’m liking this product so far and it is definitely hydrating.  I’ll see how it stacks up against my other eye products once the tube is empty.

Derma e night cream

Derma E Hydrating Night Cream: Deluxe .5 oz sample.  Full size is $29.50 for 2 0z

This is a richly moisturizing, no frills night cream with hyaluronic acid and a very light scent.  It’s a good moisturizer for very dry skin that works right away.  It seems to be fine for sensitive skin and has an overall calming effect.  So far, so good!

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil: Deluxe 1 oz sample.  Full size is $28.00 for 6.7 oz.

This is a gentle, oil based facial cleanser for normal to dry skin.  This stuff has been around forever, I’d honestly forgotten it existed, but long before the oil craze of today this product was a thing.  Judging by the impressive reviews, it still is.  I remember using it in my very early 20’s, on my dry skin and loving it.  Those were the good ol’ days long before the spawn of my hormonal breakouts.  It doesn’t matter how many times I read otherwise about facial oils and breakouts, my skin is often proving products wrong with it’s evil ways.  I just can’t get on board with relying heavily on oils.  I use light skin oils and serums on my fine lined areas, under moisturizer and when my skin gets excessively dry I might use a cleanser such as this for a couple of days in a row and then switch back to a non-oil cleanser out of fear for my clogging pores.  If you’re down with oils, try this one out.  The reviews speak highly of the product as does Allure.

This was an excellent box with an incredible $ value and a great mix of products.  I’m always pretty impressed with my beauty box but January’s has set the bar high.  What did everyone else think of this month’s stash? If you are interested in a subscription you can check it out here

Thanks for Reading!

Until Next Time…

I would really love to find a natural deodorant that works! I hear great things about many, but they don’t seem to work for me. I don’t think I am that stinky lol

Yes lol! That’s my problem. They haven’t held well for workouts even if it’s not an intense exercise:/
