Popsugar Must Have March 2016

Hurray!  March Must Have is here!  It’s no secret that I love PSMH, anticipating what the next box will bring, digging through my box upon arrival, trying everything, finding places in my home for others.  It is simply stated: a really fun box, with a little of everything. This particular box is no exception:

Included Foldout

If you are new to the game Popsugar Must Have is a Monthly Lifestyle Subscription Box service, delivered to your door monthly for $39.95 (free shipping) and is valued at over $100.00.  *They also curate several 1 time purchase, luxury, limited edition boxes that are fabulous!

Each Must Have box is filled with the best in fashion, beauty, home, fitness, food and more; curated by Popsugar Editor in Chief Lisa Sugar.  I personally adore this box and look forward to receiving it each month.  They may not hit it right on the mark, every time, for everyone but most of the time, for me; they do a really good job.  I really enjoy receiving such a wide variety of products in one sub box and I love the anticipation of such!  I generally like and use all of the products I receive yet in the event something does not suit me it is always something of quality that I can gift it to another.  PSMH works with many good, quality, relevant and on trend brands, many of them high end so it’s a great box for receiving tried and true products/brands as well as new products and up and comers!  2 words: Beauty Blender!! 🙂  Thinking of taking the plunge?  Check it out here!

The Goods:

Govino Carafe & Water 'glass' set

Govino Go anywhere Carafe & Water Glass Set: Suggested Retail: $14.95

Ever receive something that you would have never purchased on your own yet after having it wonder how you ever lived without it?  That is this set for me.  The clever ‘Take me to your bedroom’ printed on the front of the box planted it’s little seed.  The carafe and glass have the appearance of a fine glass set yet are crafted from a shatterproof plastic instead.  Having purified water only on my main floor but spending lots of time upstairs and in our master suite;  This is the perfect little touch.  I like to fill the carafe with filtered water and keep it on a table in my room.  It’s useful and looks very pretty too.  I use it to fill my personal humidifier prior to bed and for drinking whenever.  Of course, it will work great for wine as well. 😉  The brand carries other forms of drink wear as well, including a set of 4 champagne flutes I also own thanks to PSMH.

Pixi by Petra the Book of Beauty natural makeup

Pixi by Petra Book of Beauty, Minimal Makeup: Suggested Retail: $24.00

This is one of the many brand new palettes from Pixi Beauty and now that I know how great the quality is, they all look quite enticing!  $24.00 ea. is a really great price too!  Because beauty products are more my forté I am going to give this a good, thorough review.  I love the beauty products that Popsugar includes in their boxes from the types to the brands; they generally choose good, quality products.  I’m of course, over the moon any time they include a palette.  While I LOVE Pixi Glow Tonic and the entire Skin Treats collection; I’ve never thought much of their actual cosmetics…I’ve only tried a few over the years, sampled in beauty subs.  This palette really surprised me with it’s quality and performance.  The palette comes complete with 8 easy to wear shades: 4 eye shadows (2 matte 2 shimmer), 2 highlighters & two blushes (one is more of a bronzer, in my opinion) Each shade is velvety, pigmented & easy to blend.  I really love the two highlighters.

I really love the shades, pigment and texture of the items in this palette.  It’s a great every day face palette and I think I will get a lot of use out of it.  I’m looking forward to trying new things from Pixi!

Hello Extra Whitening Toothpaste

Hello Extra Whitening Fluoride Toothpaste:  Suggested Retail $4.49

This is a Good for you, good for the earth type of toothpaste formulated sans preservatives & peroxide.   It’s hard for me to get used to a product that lacks the super strong minty taste that tells your brain that your mouth and teeth are squeaky clean in a ‘I’ve just been disinfected kind of way’.  This being said; I swear that my teeth looked a bit whiter even after just a couple of days, brushing 3 times a day.  Also; getting past the ultra mild flavor I can actually hear my teeth squeaking half way through my brushing, if that makes sense.  In a world where big brands keep adding an extra adjective to their whitening pastes and an extra dollar at that; I’ll gladly chose a product that’s better for me all around at half the price because minty or not, my mouth truly feels clean after I brush.

Goodie Girl Cookies Toffee Chaos

Goodie Girl Cookies Toffee Chaos: Suggested Retail $4.99

No doubt these cookies were a colossal hit in my house as the entire bag was emptied by my son and husband the weekend that they were discovered, leaving me with a mere bite and a few crumbs; this being said, I’m thankful for this upon reading the nutritional info.  These kind of disguise themselves as being a better for you treat, and maybe they are in a couple of minor aspects but at a serving size of two very small little cookies they could get very dangerous. haha!  These puppies register in at 85 calories, 4.5 grams of fat (2.25 is saturated) & 6 grams of sugar..per one tiny cookie.  With a taste this good, a satisfying crispy crunch & packaging that tells you ‘Hey, keep on munching, straight from the bag’  I think I’ll pass.  But they are good, no doubt about that. 🙂

Nanette Lapore Rose Gold Watch
Nanette Lepore Classic Rose Gold Watch: Suggested Retail $55.00
This watch was the spoiler for March and I was excited to receive a new watch, something I’ve never received in a PSMH have box before now.  This is a really classic, timeless design adorned with the very trendy, rose gold metal with an elegant, neutral strap.  The watch was simple to set and figure out which is good because it came without any sort of info/literature.  It seems pretty well made for a watch of its price range and it really does look great on the wrist.  It can easily be casual or dressed up and should remain stylish for years to come.  One thing I do find odd about this watch is though Popsugar shows this watch available for purchase at Bloomingdales.com  I can not find any watches, designed by Nanette Lepore, available for purchase at Bloomingdales or otherwise.  After doing a bit more research it looks as though the Nanette Lepore watches & accessories may be a launch for spring of this year. 🙂

Miss Ivy Pearl 5 tassel necklace
Miss Ivy Pearl Five-Tassel Necklace: Suggested Retail $38.00
This is a new to me brand and a really fun style, at a glance but unfortunately it just doesn’t work for me.  The style of the necklace is longer, but not what I would classify as ‘a long necklace’  it does not have a clasp, but is meant to slip over your head.  My issue with it is that it lands right at the largest part of the bust…so, if you have a larger cup size these significant tassels look quite odd trying to rest in that area and the necklace protrudes and looks a bit strange.  If you are small busted or this aspect just simply doesn’t bother you, it could be a really cute piece.  I wish that it were longer in length with an adjustable clasp because I dig the beachy colors and boho vibe…it just doesn’t work for me.  I can’t find anything about this brand or necklace online so I assume it is an exclusive piece, designed for PSMH.

    1. It is a shame, it’s such an excellent box. I wonder if they have any plans to in the future… I totally get you though. Thanks to Instagram I find myself with box envy often. Other countries’ versions of Glossybox and Birchbox always seem much nicer to me. I often find a really great looking box and find it is only in the UK or France etc. I can’t complain though we have some really great boxes available to us in the US.
