Glossybox March 2016

Today I will be reviewing my March Glossybox.  (There are generally a few variations in products) Glossybox is a monthly subscription box that boasts 5 luxury beauty products each month, wrapped up in a lovely pink box. The products are often full sized, if not; they are deluxe sized samples. The cost of the subscription is 21.00 per month with free shipping.

Glossybox has a classic monthly box but often does a special edition or collab/partner edition that replaces their regular box.  These boxes generally have a unique box with special artwork or are labeled with the partnering brands/company’s logos etc. They are specially curated to fit the theme or contain some of the most popular brands/products spotlighted by said partnering brands/companies.  I get really excited for these boxes. (The October 2015 box was one of these ‘types’ of Glossyboxes.)  The special edition boxes alone are often great for display or re-use in some way or another.  In addition to these unique monthly versions Glossybox also curates special, limited edition, [additional] one time purchase boxes, ie: Holiday, Mothers day etc. (you can scroll through the past boxes here -just scroll down the linked page a bit to view past boxes.) * If it does not have a month in the title than it is a special edition one time, additional purchase box, otherwise it was the box included in your subscription.

…and now on to March’s box.  I was hoping for a fun box design and theme this month, being a double Holiday month and all…but Glossybox went with the original box design and while there was no major theme, it felt very spring-like and I’m thankful for that!   I was really happy with the March box as it contained some great tried and true products as well as an item I’ve been meaning to try for some time!!  Let’s get on with it, shall we?!

The Goods:

Too Faced Melted Chihuahua

Too Faced Melted liquified long wear lipstick in Chihuahua: This is a larger Deluxe sized sample (.16 oz) Full size product is $21.00

Believe it or not, this is the first Too Faced melted lipstick I have (really) tried.  Being a huge Too Faced fan I am surprised myself.  When the product first launched Ipsy was putting deluxe samples in their bags & I was certain I would receive one at some point, but never did.  When the melted chocolate versions were launched I figured I’d certainly purchase one of those, yet each time I shopped the available shades were very limited to options that looked horrid on me.  The metallics weren’t my thing either so here I sat, melted-less.   I have to say this is by far my favorite lipstick I own.  From the application method and applicator itself, to the actual formula; it’s exceptional.  When I first viewed the product post launch I thought the slanted, felt-like tip would be weird & messy, but it isn’t.  It applies the color very precisely and it glides on your lips velvet smooth.  The product can be applied lightly and smoothed over for a suede like finish or put on thicker for a classic, highly pigmented, class lipstick finish with shine.  The formula lasts quite good for a lipstick and the shade, chihuahua, which is a newer addition, is an amazing pink toned nude.  I LOVE this shade and find it would be suitable for most any complexion.  I’m a big fan of nude shades but most are way too  orangey/beige or light for me and end up looking like a used foundation on my lips, giving me a corpse-like appearance.  This particular color is the shade I constantly seek in any formula I love.  This is a product I will definitely seek additional shades to own.  If you too procrastinated on this product, go for it;  it’s so much better than I anticipated.

super cheesy picture, I know ,but lip photos are not my thing and I wanted to show the shade on. 🙂

I Love... Raspberries & Blackberries

I Love…Cosmetics Super Soft Hand Lotion:  Full size $6.00

My local Rite Aid once carried this UK based brand so I have owned several of their 2 in 1 bubble bath/shower creams in the past, which have a ‘Philosophy’ likeness to them (and a much lesser cost)  This particular scented hand cream is bright, juicy & just moisturizing enough for an every day hand cream.  I wish their products were more readily available in the US b/c I quite like the body wash/bubble baths.  Link is for their site but products can be purchased via

Eyeko Eye-do Liguid Eyeliner Pen

Eyeko Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner (carbon black):  Product is a deluxe sized sample, full size is $20.00

I once received an Eyeko liquid liner in the ‘skinny’ version and did not think much of it, it seemed dry, didn’t distribute smoothly and simply was not up to par.  After trying this one I wonder if the one I received was faulty or old and had dried out because this one is fantastic.  The formula is smooth and super black, totally stays put and flawlessly creates a fabulous wing.  Because I am ALL about the winged liner, my liquid liners have to be perfect.  I love this version which features WIDELASH™ to help eyelashes appear longer, fuller and stronger with up to 3 times more volume in just 15 days regular use. (per site) I’ve not had the opportunity to use this for that long yet but, if I find this to be true, I’ll certainly provide a lengthy review on it!  Product also claims to stay put on the water line, but I will leave that testing to other brave souls.  I’ve had liquid liner drip in to my ultra-sensitive eyes before and it isn’t pleasant.

Luxie Large Angled Brush

Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Large Angled Face Brush 504: Full sized brush $16.00

I’ve received several Luxie beauty, Rose gold brushes as of late and really like them a lot.  They are aesthetically nice looking, super soft & do not leave behind any bristles on my face.  The brush is ideal for contouring, highlighting, bronzing and blushing, due to its slanted design and is made with antibacterial synthetic bristles which are cruelty-free and soft enough for the most sensitive skin. The only bummer for me is that this particular brush is one I already own.  I do really like this brush collection and certainly will not be saddened by receiving any additional versions in said collection.

Vine-Vera Day Cream

Vine Vera Resveratrol Merlot Moisture Day Cream:  Two deluxe sized samples, full size jar is $146.00 for 1.83 oz.

This product and brand are totally new to me though the ingredients and concept are not.  I have used this day cream a few days now and while I do like its consistency and moisturizing properties it seems to be more targeted at preventing further damage than reversing current damage, making it hard to identify whether it is doing as it is designed.  For me, it’s not something I would purchase on a whim at that price point, knowing so little about it. (it does receive excellent reviews)  It’s nice that we received two small jars though, which I think will be enough product to determine whether it is something you can’t live without or otherwise.  I’ll simply see how I feel about it after continued use.

What were your thoughts on this month’s Glossybox?  I felt as though this was a really good box and am hoping Glossybox will continue toward what they once were.  The lipstick and eyeliner are great everyday essentials for me so this box has proved well worth its cost!

Nice review! I’ve been on the lookout for a liquid eyeliner myself that is easy to apply, not too runny, or too dry. Will give this a try ✨

Thanks you! I really like it. I generally use Stila, stay all day & Kat Von D, tattoo; this one has a tad bit thicker applicator, but still super fine at the tip, which is fine for me b/c I like a really strong cat eye…it’s super inky, but not runny. I was impressed and it stayed really well.
