I’ve been on a bit of a Benefit kick as of late! I must be feeling nostalgic. Once upon a time in a land far, far away and a time; equally as far..my little makeup bag consisted of a couple black eyeliners, mascara, brow pencil and my staples: Benefit Hoola Bronzer & Benetint. It also consisted of a solid fragrance that was: Roxy Hula perfume, but we will ignore this one aspect. Benefit’s products have certainly stood the test of time and have grown with both new additions entirely and expanded versions of cult faves.
Today I have my recent Birchbox mini haul featuring two of the newer benefit products based on the popular dandelion, brightening face powder. Let’s go!
These two products are too much. I can’t believe how kind of retro, powder puff-y cute the actual product and the outer packaging for each are. Go ahead, take it all in; here’s one more..
and now on to the first product…
Dandelion Dew Liquid Blush: $28.00
I’m totally crushing on this liquid, baby pink, blush. The beyond cute bottle has a pump applicator and just one tiny pump disperses plenty of product for both cheeks. (it will last a really long time) The product appears a bit darker when dispensed than it does applied to your face and has a matte-ish but dewey consistency on your skin that looks totally sheer and flush-like. It’s free of any glimmer or shimmer and just gives you a nice rosey lit within glow when applied to the apples of your cheeks. It’s super easy to use and nearly fool proof for blush phobes, like myself. I really love the texture of this stuff too. You could easily mix it with other things to change the finish, make it shimmer, dab some on your lips etc.

So pretty! (I used a lot for the swatch, definitely do not use this amount on your cheeks!)
Dandelion shy beam liquid highlighter: $26.00
I have been wanting this product since I first heard of its existence, when I could only find it in a small gift set that continuously sold out. I’m so glad I finally purchased it. It is a total must have for any highlight junky. It’s fabulous, really: You know when you see magazine adds and the person shown wearing a highlighter has that amazing gleam..so you buy the product, sport it, and end up appearing more shimmery & sparkly than that of the ethereal gleam you bought it for? (especially in the day light/sun) This product will give you that gleam, sans shimmer and sparkle. Hurray! You can apply it lightly, you can build it for more impact. This ultra soft pink, matte highlighter gives me the ethereal glow I’ve been searching for! I get serious on my cheekbones with this stuff but I also use it on that dark ‘shadow line’ under the length of the eye area. I find that teeny dots along the length of it, blended lightly in a patting motion, camouflage it in the most natural way. Try it down the center of your nose for a shimmer-less slimming effect, around the nose area, the brow bones, brighten the corners of your eyes; so many options and such beautiful results. Love this product!
Here’s a pre blend swatch:
I found it hard to capture the glow in swatching photos..so here is a super weird close up where you can get a hint of the shy beam glow & the pink of dandelion dew. 🙂
I really love these two products. They work great worn together with a little Hoola bronzer for nice, natural, glowing spring/summer look. Shy beam is hands down my favorite highlighter for a more subtle less sparkly glow. With packaging this amazing they are a welcome addition to my vanity too. I’d love to hear your thoughts on these products and I’d also like to give a little shout out to Birchbox. I’ve been a member for about three years now and while the monthly box is nice, it’s all the other perks of being a member that really top it off for me. I constantly order add-ons to my box and order products from their store with my consistent points (from site reviews) and bb coupon codes. I snagged these two gems with 20 off in bb points plus a 20% off coupon code, (and free shipping for aces!) 😉 making it a stellar deal. When my items arrived they appeared perfect but my dandelion dew had a pump that was not working. I shot them a quick email to see what I could do and they responded promptly with the nicest message as well as a new shipment notification for a brand new product, already on the way. Because every single one of my transactions with this company has been equally as amazing; I thought they deserved some props! I love good, personable companies. Way to go Birchbox!
