Today I will be reviewing my May Glossybox. (There are generally a few variations in products) Glossybox is a monthly subscription box that boasts 5 luxury beauty products each month, wrapped up in a lovely pink box. The products are often full sized, if not; they are deluxe sized samples. The cost of the subscription is 21.00 per month with free shipping.
Glossybox has a classic monthly box but often does a special edition or collab/partner edition that replaces their regular box. These boxes generally have a unique box with special artwork or are labeled with the partnering brands/company’s logos etc. They are specially curated to fit the theme or contain some of the most popular brands/products spotlighted by said partnering brands/companies. I get really excited for these boxes. (The October 2015 box was one of these ‘types’ of Glossyboxes.) The special edition boxes alone are often great for display or re-use in some way or another. In addition to these unique monthly versions Glossybox also curates special, limited edition, [additional] one time purchase boxes, ie: Holiday, Mothers day etc. (you can scroll through the past boxes here -just scroll down the linked page a bit to view past boxes.) * If it does not have a month in the title than it is a special edition one time, additional purchase box, otherwise it was the box included in your subscription.
…and now on to May’s box.

Rituals Cosmetics Shower Foam in Zensation: Deluxe sample/travel size. Full size is $15.00
I’ve Loved all of the products I have used from Rituals Cosmetics and was excited to try a new one. I’ve had many different scents of these foaming shower gels and they all smell fantastic, this scent is not bad, but it’s definitely not my favorite. There is something a bit off about it. We can’t all be in love with every scent though. I love the unique foaming gel texture that is reminiscent of a women’s shave gel/foam and transforms in to a rich, thick lather. The packaging is always really nice as well. This version uses organic rice milk and cherry blossom leaving skin soft and smooth. I often use mine for shaving… b/c it just feels right. I’m always happy to try a new Rituals product or scent in Glossybox or otherwise; but, I was a bit bummed that the product wasn’t full sized as it has been in the past. I suppose I’ll just have to enjoy it for a little less time. 😉
Adore Cosmetics Cellmax Elite Facial Serum: Deluxe Sample. Full size is $749.95
well, I can easily say that this is a first. Because this product rings in at a cool $750.00; I am going to go ahead and copy exactly what its brand site, Adore Cosmetics, states it is designed to do: With the passage of time, skin cells suffer damage from aging and environmental elements. This extraordinary facial serum from Adore Organic Innovation helps halt and reverse the aging process using CELLMAX, a breakthrough combination of age-defying active ingredients. It features the highest concentration of our exclusive Plant Stem Cell formula, today’s most advanced anti-aging biotechnology for skincare. This remarkable formula is proven to restore youthful appearance by protecting your skin’s own stem cells and encouraging them to regenerate healthy texture. Its anti-aging action is increased with a special complex of Vitamin C, which regenerates the skin’s appearance cell by cell, promoting production of collagen for skin firmness and elasticity. This is suspended in a formulation of jojoba seed oil, which makes it readily absorbed to minimize fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin E revitalizes each layer of your skin, preventing damage and protecting skin from future harm, while Bisabolol soothes the skin and prevents irritation. With each application, this innovative serum promotes skin suppleness and works to restore what time and the elements take away. Those are some pretty healthy claims and I didn’t notice any of the typical ‘time frame’ listings as to when I can expect to notice any of these changes, so, I’m not too certain what to expect. I’m no stranger to hopping on an ultra luxe and pricey skin care item, finding out it works for me and spinning it in a way that allows me to find it as an acceptable and even necessary purchase…Uh Hum, LaMer…but in the case of LaMer, the product I use helps with a skin condition outside the aging realm that nothing else would fix on its own and as an age reversing item, I do not notice much of a change; (plus it’s still quite a bit less than this.) so, my point here is when I see $750.00, for age reversing I think: Fillers. I know that there is a way to have some pretty long term age reversing effects, with $750.00, boasting really quick results. I’m definitely going to give this product a true trial though and see just what this serum can accomplish. I decided to get the most out of the product I will use it mostly around the mouth area where I have a pesky line on the left side of my mouth (from my smirk 😦 ) and to hopefully assist in preventing the formation of more. My initial findings of the serum were that its texture is kind of a thick silky serum that has that silicon primer like feel when you smooth it on and its scent is reminiscent to the original Ivory Soap bar..[which for whatever reason was a bit odd to me, but nostalgic]. It did feel light enough and super smooth on the skin, liked to using a similarly textured primer under my makeup, which made it seem a bit backward applying a light moisturizer over the top of it. It does have a bit of an instant effect, a bit more, in my opinion, than the typical primer (on fine lines) and I have been skipping primer b/c of it. I have not experienced any adverse effects from the product which I have now been using day and night for a week. It does seem to have softened the area around my mouth a teensy bit but so far nothing more significant than products I’ve used at a much lesser price point. The deluxe sample is a very generous size and I have a lot of the jar remaining. Because I feel a product of this value deserves a thorough and unbiased review, I plan to do an update blog post on this product when I have finished its entirety.
Nioxin System 3 Cleanser & Scalp therapy Conditioner: Trial/travel kit. Full size kit is $49.00
This duo is designed for normal to thin looking, chemically treated hair and is meant to remove oils that clog the hair follicles as well as environmental residues from the scalp. This product is designed to balance moisture levels and help your locks appear thicker. This duo sounds as though it has the potential to be a really great product for the right person. I have really thick hair and do my best to make it appear less so, while it may be good for the scalp I’m going to pass on trying this as I know someone it may work much better for. I’d definitely like to try their scalp recovery version though!
Talika Photo-Hydra Day: Product is full size $29.oo
This is a product I was pretty interested in as the technology behind it seemed unique and innovative. Its claims to use an amino-acid that recreates the effects of natural light on the skin, are nothing I’ve heard of until now. (at least not worded that way.) This moisturizer is meant to deeply hydrate the skin and provide anti-aging benefits. It contains mango butter to nourish and prevent dehydration, skin soothing properties and hyaluronic acid for adding extra moisture in to the skin and plumping its surface. Product is said to work for all skin types. While I have not noticed any change in my skin’s appearance; I do like the moisturizer. There are very few out there that work for my combo/breakout prone skin as a day moisturizer. It didn’t seem to break me out further and does hydrate my skin well, so that’s a plus. I do seem to be more shiny than normal by mid afternoon, requiring a major blot…but it’s also much warmer now than just recently. My verdict: good moisturizer that works for all skin types, maybe with continued use other benefits will arise. *One thing I noticed while checking this product out is that while Talika does have a US site; this particular product in this 1.0 oz tube size, is not available for purchase in the US. You can purchase the larger size for 49.00 or from Beauty Bay, in this 1.0 oz size for 38.80. I could not find it anywhere at the $29.00 price on my glossy info card.
Benefit Roller Lash Super Curling & Lifting Mascara: Mascara Min (travel size) $12.00
Benefit’s Roller Lash is not new to me. I had to try it the second it launched, of course, and while its unique design and formula separate, lift and curl lashes to a lasting finish, they also make mine fall out, quite a bit. 😦 I love the way my lashes look when I use this, it’s my sister’s favorite mascara; unfortunately, every time I try it the same thing happens, I lose a bunch of lashes. Because I do not have nearly enough to spare I’ll pass this on to my sis!
