3b Beauty Beyond Borders June 2016

Hey, Beauties near & far!  I’m crazy about this new(er) little company and their vision!  So, won’t you join me as we dig in to my second installment of the 3b box, Beauty beyond borders?!

3B Hello Summer

3b is a growing startup based in Seattle, bringing you products from Japan, Korea & Taiwan.  As a member; each month, you will receive a bag filled with multiple samplings and a postcard containing instructions on how to use all of your new products!  Billing and shipping begins around the 21st-22nd of each month.  You can follow along on Instagram @the3bbox for tips and other info such as key ingredients.  The brand is currently in the process of gaining you exclusive access to full sized products so you can stock up on your favorites after sampling!   The samples inside are either deluxe or contain multiples of the smaller foil packs and such, providing enough of the product to determine whether it’s a win or not! (plus some full sized masks and products.)

What to expect:

For $12.00 each month you will receive

  • A pouch containing four to five deluxe Asian beauty samples that are new or popular in Asia but hard to get your hands on. The products will change each month, and you’ll get to try new skincare, haircare, nailcare, and cosmetic products. Sample products range from go-to brands such as Lioele, Etude House and Skinfood to high-end premium brands like SK-II, Kanebo, and Sulwhasoo. Don’t worry about not being able to read Japanese or Korean – we’ve got you covered with English translations of descriptions in each box.
  • Tips on how to use products
  • Unlimited access to our team to answer any questions you might have

From the Company (their story):

3B is the product of a few friends, trips around the globe, and the vision of changing the way we all discover beauty products overseas. In places like Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, we discovered some of the best beauty products we’ve ever used– but they were just incredibly hard to find back home.

So many of us can spend hours reading product reviews, never being quite sure about what works, nervous about making a commitment to such a large and expensive bottle. 3B’s mission is to eliminate borders when it comes to finding the perfect beauty products. Some of our favorite products come from Asia, but sadly we can’t all take a flight to Japan to find the newest eye cream. 3B takes away the guesswork and lets you try amazing products that may feel out of reach. We’re constantly on the lookout for hidden gems that are making their way on the market, or classic go –to products. Sign up for 3B and re-imagine global beauty with us.

Here is where you can sign up or check it out for yourself!

The Goods:

Skin food Black sugar serum light

Skinfood Black Sugar Serum (light): Deluxe Sample.  Full Size is: about $24 -$30.00

I have had really great luck with SkinFood products and use several of them on the daily.  I have been using the honey propolis essence nightly and love the results.  This serum is so light, it falls closer to a weight/texture in the essence category.  Because of this I am not only able to add it to my nightly routine I can use it prior to my light day moisturizer..the one and only day treatment product I use.  It’s so light that it is undetectable.  It seems to further assist in clearing my skin and I assume will help it remain so.  Super light, smells nice.  Great product.

Milky Dress Premium

Milky Dress Premium Brightener: 7 packets.  Full size is: varies by seller

Ok, so I would have never purchased this product myself, in a million years.  ‘Whitening’ products are not really a western thing and while many of these products are basically the same ingredients and results you get from Western ‘brightening’ products; this sounded to be a stronger version thats intent is more along the lines of actual lightening.  Upon research it sounded more like any whitening was kind of an instant and temporary thing but a well received product nonetheless.  I’ve used this product before bed, as opposed to by day and while it does kind of whiten my face upon application, its back to normal by morning.  what it has done is completely clear up one of my worst hormonal monthly breakouts I’ve had in many months.  It’s a tad bit drying but nothing like traditional acne treatments.  I’ll definitely continue using the product on an as needed basis, for this purpose; and for the record, my skin is still the same shade. 😉

It's skin todak todak Pack

It’s Skin Todak Todak nutrition pack:  1 full sized mask pack, about $3-3.50

This is a wash off mask designed to hydrate and soften skin.  These little packs come in multiple versions; this one being, the nutrition type.  This version is comprised of Manuka honey and coconut extract, smelling as delightful as it sounds with a feel and texture similar to honey, minus the major sticky factor.  Mask was pleasant to wear; simply spread on your face and wash off after about 15 minutes.  My skin felt a bit softer following use.  I was able to get 3 uses out of a single pack.  Nice item!

Mirai Body purifying mist

Mirai Purifying clinical body spritzer: Purse Size ‘Pen Spray” $14.00

I believe this is a Japanese brand which was apparently given away to Oscar Nominees this year.  Fancy. 😉  I know that while searching for something online regarding the purchase and specs of this product I happened upon a youtube video pertaining to this brand and its technology.  I’m now terrified of ‘stinking’ after forty, as they so delicately put it..ha!!  I’ll leave that to you to ‘go there’, if you dare, and I’ll go ahead and stick to the basics.  This spritz is designed to keep you smelling fresh after a long, hot or stressful day with special deodorizing technology.  It smelled pretty strongly of alcohol at first spritz but didn’t linger.  I did not notice much of the claimed citrus scent left behind but I must admit I did feel as though I was ‘fresher smelling’ after sweating like crazy at an all day festival and felt more secure having it in my bag!

Purple tale 5 steps to lovely skin

Purpletale 5 steps to lovely skin: 1 5 step kit/pack $7.99

What a fun intro pack to the multi-step Korean skincare process.  I’ve not tried anything from the brand Purpletale before and because I’m already familiar and currently practice the multi step skin care routine, I’ve decided to save this pack for an upcoming overnight trip.  It will be perfect for light packing without having to sacrifice my skin’s pampering!  Pack contains a cleanser, treatment ampoule, sheet mask, moisturizer and even a neck cream.  (ugh, I need a good neck cream) This version is designed for firming, lifting & hydration and is said to be suitable for all skin types.  Perfect!

This was an excellent second bag!  I may love this one even more than the first; tough call.  I’m really impressed with this little sampling sub.  I think this sub would be a great intro for anyone wanting to try out Asian beauty products on a budget.  I love that even the smaller samples come in multiples so you can get a real feel for each product.  Totally digging this company and looking forward to seeing how they grow!

    1. Isn’t it? I know, it’s a really great sub. Always plenty of product to determine if you want more to purchase and great stuff. I’ll be glad when they get their store running for full size items. I LOVE that serum too. I’m a Skin Food fan for sure!!
