About:

3b is a growing startup based in Seattle, bringing you products from Japan, Korea & Taiwan.  As a member; each month, you will receive a bag filled with multiple samplings and a postcard containing instructions on how to use all of your new products!  Billing and shipping begins around the 21st-22nd of each month.  You can follow along on Instagram @the3bbox for tips and other info such as key ingredients.  The brand is currently in the process of gaining you exclusive access to full sized products so you can stock up on your favorites after sampling!   The samples inside are either deluxe or contain multiples of the smaller foil packs and such, providing enough of the product to determine whether it’s a win or not! (plus some full sized masks and products.)

What to expect:

For $12.00 each month you will receive

  • A pouch containing four to five deluxe Asian beauty samples that are new or popular in Asia but hard to get your hands on. The products will change each month, and you’ll get to try new skincare, haircare, nailcare, and cosmetic products. Sample products range from go-to brands such as Lioele, Etude House and Skinfood to high-end premium brands like SK-II, Kanebo, and Sulwhasoo. Don’t worry about not being able to read Japanese or Korean – we’ve got you covered with English translations of descriptions in each box.
  • Tips on how to use products
  • Unlimited access to our team to answer any questions you might have

From the Company (their story):

3B is the product of a few friends, trips around the globe, and the vision of changing the way we all discover beauty products overseas. In places like Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, we discovered some of the best beauty products we’ve ever used– but they were just incredibly hard to find back home.

So many of us can spend hours reading product reviews, never being quite sure about what works, nervous about making a commitment to such a large and expensive bottle. 3B’s mission is to eliminate borders when it comes to finding the perfect beauty products. Some of our favorite products come from Asia, but sadly we can’t all take a flight to Japan to find the newest eye cream. 3B takes away the guesswork and lets you try amazing products that may feel out of reach. We’re constantly on the lookout for hidden gems that are making their way on the market, or classic go –to products. Sign up for 3B and re-imagine global beauty with us.

Here is where you can sign up or check it out for yourself!

The ‘Bag’:

The July 3b, beauty beyond borders sub.jpg

The Goods:

3W Clinic Intensive UV Sunblock 50 PA+++

3W Clinic Intensive UV Sunblock Cream: $19.99 (can be found for lower prices on Amazon)

I was surprised to find a full sized, excellent quality sun cream in this sub!  (The link above is to 3W Clinic’s site.)  This is a high SPF (50) sun screen with a light scent and a nice texture that spreads on smoothly.  It feels nice and light on the skin and is moisturizing, not sticky; but it does leave your skin a bit dewey so those with oily skin may not prefer this for use on their face.  I did not; however, have any issues with breakouts from it and thought it worked nicely.  Great product!

ünt hydrating cleanse

Ünt Perfect Balance Hydrating Cleanser: Travel Size.  Full size is $11.99

This is apparently the best selling skin care brand in Taiwan.  It’s my first time hearing of it, but I really like the product!  This cleanser does not really have a scent, yet some how smells of ‘clean’ if that makes any sense.  It has a low PH so it shouldn’t strip your skin or make it overly ‘squeaky’.  I’ve been using mine following a light oil cleanser and it does a perfect job of ridding of any oil residues or leftover makeup/grime with just enough moisturizing that my skin doesn’t feel tight afterwards.

kiss kiss lovely patch tony Moly

Tony Moly Kiss Kiss Lovely Lip Patch:  1 patch $2.50

I’ve seen these fun little patches around for a long time but have yet to try one.  I’ve used the versions for the lines around your mouth, which this covers as well, and it’s a similar concept.  One thing I’ve read a lot in other’s reviews on this product is how you must lie down or they will slip off and how most wanted to move about.  I decided to lie down on my bed and applied the patch; after about 5 minutes of taking goofy snap chat photos, I found the patch to feel secured to my lips and mouth.  I was able to walk around and do whatever for the remaining 15-20 minutes without the patch sliding from its position…so that was nice.  Once removed I didn’t feel or notice much of a difference in my lips or the area around my mouth, but mine are quite chapped.  Maybe if used several days in a row improvement might be achieved; either way, it was fun finally trying one.

and here’s that awesome snap chat..P.S thanks snap chat for making my skin look like a Barbie Doll’s. 😉

Etude House Pink Vital Emulsion

Etude House Pink Vital Water:  Deluxe Sample.  Full Size is $12.48

I really loved this product.  It is super lightweight, perfect for day time use, especially in hot weather.  Product feels really light on, yet seems to give a really good dose of moisture.  the scent is delightful; I want to describe it as: pink petal.  I’d definitely be interested in purchasing this in a full sized version. I’ve only had this sub 3 months now and find myself seeking out full sized versions of more products than subs I’ve had for years.  I consider this a good sign. 🙂

The Info Card:

Another successful month for me; a cleanser that I am loving and a full sized, really high quality sun cream.  I’m loving the pink vital and will likely re-purchase and if anything, I had fun with the lip patch.  😉   I’m still impressed with this little sampling sub.  I think this sub would be a great intro for anyone wanting to try out Asian beauty products on a budget.  Totally digging this company and looking forward to seeing how they grow!
