Today I will be reviewing my July Glossybox. (There are generally a few variations in products) Glossybox is a monthly subscription box that boasts 5 luxury beauty products each month, wrapped up in a lovely pink box. The products are often full sized, if not; they are deluxe sized samples. The cost of the subscription is 21.00 per month with free shipping.
Glossybox has a classic monthly box but often does a special edition or collab/partner edition that replaces their regular box. These boxes generally have a unique box with special artwork or are labeled with the partnering brands/company’s logos etc. They are specially curated to fit the theme or contain some of the most popular brands/products spotlighted by said partnering brands/companies. I get really excited for these boxes. (June’s box was one of these ‘types’ of Glossyboxes.) The special edition boxes alone are often great for display or re-use in some way or another. In addition to these unique monthly versions Glossybox also curates special, limited edition, [additional] one time purchase boxes, ie: Holiday, Mothers day etc. (you can scroll through the past boxes here -just scroll down the linked page a bit to view past boxes.) * If it does not have a month in the title than it is a special edition one time, additional purchase box, otherwise it was the box included in your subscription.
…and now on to July’s box.
The Box:
The Goods:
Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil: Full Size $10.00 (GB list 10.00 but I’m finding it for $11.99)
I LOVE this product. I’ve always liked shaving with oils; for the baby soft, smooth skin. What I don’t like is the clogging of the razor with every pass, and the heavy, slick film left on your tub or shower surface. With this product; you get the best without the issues. Better yet; it smells SO good. It’s like a mix of body shop-esque nut body butters and kind of a tropical scent. Works great, good size and value. I’ve seen this brand at Ulta and know it has been around for a long time. I’ll definitely re-purchase.
Fango Essenziali Purify Treatment Mask: One Mask $7.00
I went through so many different feelings toward this sheet mask throughout the process and after….good news? The end result was a successful one. When removing the mask it’s extremely stiff, so you know that it has a protected cover. The mask instructions say to remove this. I removed the stiff film, attempted to apply, but it was still too stiff. There is in fact a protective film on each side of the mask, one is just a bit harder to lift and remove. My poor mask was in a real state when I finally got the second film removed. when I had the mask straightened out I applied it to my face. It is a very thing gel/collagen like mask, thinner than those I’ve typically tried; a bit harder to work with, but when you apply it to your face it adheres much better than the norm, and molds to every part of your face in the best way possible. I loved the way it fit and it felt really nice as well. Once removed I pat the remaining essence in to my skin and let it be. I did this as a morning mask which is not my typical sheet mask routine; but do to the type, I thought it would be a could pre-makeup start to my day. My face remained sticky for a very long time and an hour or so later my skin looked as though it was flaking and peeling; which was just all of the excess serum that had not absorbed. (maybe some skin particles too) There was no way I could go with out a gentle face wash to remove all of this. Once my face was free of this nonsense I was thoroughly impressed with the state of my skin and I felt it was in an even better state the very next day. Verdict; the mask was a bit different than the many I use nightly; but now that I know how it works, it’s no big deal. I like the results and that is what matters most to me.
Eyeko Fat Stick in Satin: Full size $12.00
This product is OK. The taupe-y shade with a slight shimmer is pretty, but light. I tried to slide it over my lids sans primer, which didn’t go over well. My lids are always a bit slick and I use an oil based eye makeup remover that clearly leaves some residue behind. I re-applied with a bit more luck but when I tried to blend it, it mostly rubbed away. I’m not a huge fan of shadow sticks anyway. I like them for an easy smoky eye look now and then but this one missed the mark for me. This product appears to have been discontinued as I can only find it on sale and sold out at most retailers. I found it still available via beauty bay for $4.30, link above.

SinfulColors SinfulShine Top Coat: Full Size $3.00
Sinful Colors is a really inexpensive nail product brand; and probably the best one, at that. They’ve always been a pretty dependable brand to snag several on trend shades on a budget; but I feel like they’ve really upped their game as of late, in both trending products and their formula. Easily comparable to much pricier brands. They’ve got some really great products and collections out right now. Being a top coat, and my being ultra picky about top coats, I didn’t expect all that much from this. I’ve purchased higher end, pricey top coats and been totally let down; so, a $3.00 version had me like: ehhhhhhhhh…(that should be spoken in a really high pitched squeak) This product really surprised me though. Great shine, lasting and dried fairly quick. I was really impressed and my mani looks perfect 2 days later.
Leighton Denny Expert Nails Miracle Mist: Full size $16.00
I was really excite about this product as I love nail drying spray. I feel they are more effective than the drying drops and do not eave the residue and oil being that can interfere with application of a top coat. This version worked great and was not as icy cold on your finger tip as the large industrial types found at the beauty supply can often be. One thing though, those enormous cans work wee and are generally under 10 buck for an enormous can. This, at $16.oo, is pretty small in comparison and I feel like I used half of the bottle in one nail session, maybe there is more left in the can than I think and maybe I used more than necessary…either way; it worked great and with the pairing of this spray and my new top coat, I achieved a nice looking, smudge and nick free mani that has lasted.
(nail polish is: Lakur Londontown nail color in ‘Royal Wedding’)
Glov quick treat: Full Size $5.00
Ok first thing’s first; because the product is called ‘glov’ one would expect to remove a mitt, at the very least, fitting your 4 fingers sans thumb, but this is designed for one finger, and this feels a bit awkward to me. If it were maybe just big enough to fit two fingers, I think it would be more efficient. As for the remaining aspects of the product; I’ve used similar products before; makeup removing wash cloths designed to remove makeup and cleanse the face with only water (sans cleanser) I’ve tried the Norwex version in the past. This one is softer and a bit more fluffy, feels lovely on your face. If it were larger or even an actual wash cloth it would be a really nice one that you would enjoy pressing to your skin. As far as effectiveness; like others I’ve tried it does a really good job of removing makeup but I would only ever trust it as a first step cleansing product as there is always remaining product on your face once you move to a second. At the least I’d apply a micellar water or toner on a cotton pad, post Glov cleanse, to remove anything that remains. Good cleansing alternative to those with very sensitive skin. They do make a full sized version too, but I can’t seem to find a US retailer.
I really liked this month’s box; some new products to try, but most of all, the products were very useful. This is a really good thing [to me] when you receive a lot of beauty subs. Thoughts?
Here’s what up next from Glossybox:
