Happy Friday! Just when I thought I’d had my fill of Highlighting products; the beauty industry heard, and they answered with a collection of ‘other realm worthy’ additions. Holographic, prismatic, cool toned hues in creams and powders alike. These magical concoctions will create a celestial glow or transform you in to an ice princess with one swipe of a your brush.
Milk Makeup Holographic Stick: $28.00
I’m a Milk Makeup Mega Fan; I only wish they’d been around when I was 20. 😉 Either way, I still have fun playing around with their products and ultra ‘cool girl’ concepts; if in a bit more subdued fashion. I added this product to my list before it even launched. Because a mega highlight swiped at the tops of the cheekbones still fills me with youthful delight; why not really go for it! I personally love the really cool tones and always preferred the icy white toned versions to the warmer highlights that gained so much popularity anyway; so, these new shades were perfect for me.
product specs:
This is an iridescent hyper-lavender Highlighting stick designed to provide a prismatic glow for an out of this world, holographic effect. It’s loaded with meteorite powder and twilight pearls that create a prismatic finish. Highlighter is designed for use on cheeks, eyes, lips, and body for every skin tone. It is formulated with Milk Melt technology and glides on super smooth, blending easily. It’s infused with mango butter, peach nectar, and avocado oil for lasting hydration. Just apply it onto bare skin or over makeup. Product is formulated without: Parabens, Sulfates or Phthalates and is Vegan & Cruelty Free
Here is a swipe swatch in regular indoor lighting. (I’m going to give a lot of swatches in multiple lighting. Ignore some of my odd shots, some I chose b/c they were under a large skylight!)

Again
It’s so hard to get good swatch photos of products like this..you are moving your arm all around, grabbing the different hues and then you ‘snap’ and it’s not there…I couldn’t even get any good photos on my face, so I went the arm route..but trust me it is much, much more cool in person.
My thoughts:
Of course; I love this. The shade is phenomenal and I can’t stop moving around, from side to side, watching the tones change while wearing it. The stick itself is really large and it will definitely last a very long time. The formula is creamy and smooth, easy to blend for a more subtle look. I’ll address some of the issues/complaints I’ve heard some having in regards to the product so anyone contemplating purchase has a better understanding of the product. 1.Product is sticky and never feels like it dries on my skin. Well, this product is not a cream to powder highlighter like some are. It’s a cream almost gel/cream like highlighter. If you’ve used RMS products, it reminds me of that highlighter. True to Milk, it’s meant to shine some and have a slight wet look to it, not a dry powder finish. If you just dab a bit on where you want it, it will be subtle enough and not too sticky. 2. When I swipe it on it just moves my makeup around and rubs it off. Ok; well if you wear a ‘full face’ and then lastly try to swipe a big solid stick across your face, I’m certain that will happen. I consider ‘Milk’ more of a minimalist type brand with bold accents, if that makes sense. I can glide the stick lightly across my cheekbones without messing mine up; but, prefer to dab it on with my finger or beauty blender and then blend, to avoid getting makeup on to the stick or inadvertently rubbing anything else away. Hopefully this helps explain the product a bit better. I love using this as a fun highlight on my cheekbones but it also looks great on eyelids, on your lips and I like swiping it on my hands and adding it to my body lotion for an amazing gleam! It’s not for everyone, but if you like unique products and are prone to experimenting you will likely dig it.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit -Moon Child- : $40.00
There was not one single part of me that would negotiate not purchasing this palette. I fell in love at first sight with its icy cool tones. I’ve barely scratched the surface of this palette as far as creating looks yet, but I am smitten. I think it will be stunning for winter too as it just screams ‘ice queen’. These 6 powders are smooth, velvety and ultra pigmented in true ABH fashion. The most exciting part of this palette is swatching them for the first time and finding the tones come out that hold true to their namesake; the tones you do not notice when you look at the shades in their pan.
Product Specs:
These Metallic highlighters offer a celestial skin finish. Layer shades or sweep them separately on face, eyes and body for a kaleidoscopic, shimmering effect. Powders can be applied with a brush or a damp blender for an amplified effect.
Shades:
Blue Ice – Diamond white with an icy blue reflect
Star – A moonstone fusion of mint, platinum and silver reflect
Purple Horseshoe – A glittering lavender with an arctic blue reflect
Pink Heart – Pearl white with a pink opal reflect
Lucky Clover – A shamrock-infused gold with canary yellow diamond reflect
Blue Moon – Frozen blue with a silver reflect
Indoor Light (shades are left to right top row and back to left…according to palette. Opposite on photo below)
Under Skylights. I had a bit better luck photographing these, the lack of shine likely helped. See what I mean about truly seeing the shades? “Ahh that’s why it’s called lucky clover” 😉 (my staircase looks dangerous in this photo…)
NYX Cosmetics Bright Idea Illuminating Stick: $8.00
This product is on the subtler side in comparison to the others but; the lavender hued version still gives a similar cool effect. This new line from NYX has a full range of hues; including four highlighters, four blushes and four bronzers. The lavender lust is soft, goes on smoothly and sets right away to more of a cream powder finish for an instant, lit-from-within glow. It’s essentially a more subtle, less daring, softer, less shiny version than that of the MILK product. Options!! It’s a quick easy to use product with an array of options and the best part? It’s only 8 bucks!!
NYX Lavender Lust Swatch
A whole lot of gorgeous to take in, right?! I am loving these products so much and can’t wait to play around with them more! Anybody else have thoughts on these products?! Own them? Want them? I’d love to hear from you!
