Popsugar Must Have August 2016

August Must Have is here and while it wasn’t quite the box of my dreams; it was nicely curated, and would have been perfect, for say, a girl heading back to school or going away to college.  If I had a daughter doing so, instead of a son, It would have made a nice gift.   The August ‘mini’ which I really liked this month, would have complimented it well. Click here for my PSMH Mini review.

August Must Have

It’s no secret that I love PSMH, anticipating what the next box will bring, digging through my box upon arrival, trying everything, finding places in my home for others.  It is simply stated: a really fun box, with a little of everything. This particular box is no exception:

NEW  Popsugar has also recently launched their newest monthly addition ‘the mini’.  This version released its very first box in April.  You can read my review for the first box and all about the subscription here!

Each Must Have box is filled with the best in fashion, beauty, home, fitness, food and more; curated by Popsugar Editor in Chief Lisa Sugar.  I personally adore this box and look forward to receiving it each month.  They may not hit it right on the mark, every time, for everyone but most of the time, for me; they do a really good job.  I really enjoy receiving such a wide variety of products in one sub box and I love the anticipation of such!  I generally like and use all of the products I receive yet in the event something does not suit me it is always something of quality that I can gift it to another.  PSMH works with many good, quality, relevant and on trend brands, many of them high end so it’s a great box for receiving tried and true products/brands as well as new products and up and comers!  2 words: Beauty Blender!!   Thinking of taking the plunge?  Check it out here!

The Goods:

cargo blush in 'the big easy'

Cargo Cosmetics ‘The Big Easy’ Powder Blush:  Sugg. Retail $26.00

First off, whoa!  I own so many Cargo ‘mini’ items I had no idea how large the full sized items were.  Second, when PSMH released this spoiler with the product photo there were a lot of people commenting on how very light the shade was and how it would in no way work for them.  I suspected the same as it looked like a matte, white/pink (very light pink) in the photos.  While it is still a lighter pink it is definitely a bit darker than it appeared in the photos and it is not at all flat or matte, it has a beautiful tone and shimmer to it.  If your skin is not light enough to use it as a blush or at least for a slight flush; it can be used more like a highlighter.  I swiped mine up my cheekbones and then used my finger tips to blend a bit of it away.  The product is also quite sheer, which makes the method I described really easy; but, its also buildable.  It’s also more neutral in tone, so it won’t be too warm or too cool.  While certainly not a perfect fit for every unique individual out there…it is more versatile than I expected.

triple c power gloss in silver

Triple C PowerGloss in Silver:  Sugg. Retail $30.00

This is definitely my favorite item in the box.  I actually own a couple of these portable chargers already; but, while mine are thin and flat, they are pretty large, taking up the bulk of my small bag when I bring it along.  This version is chic looking and much more portable.  These little gadgets are seriously so handy if you are always on the go, traveling and/or ALWAYS needing to charge something, like myself.  They are also a great gift for your teen..you know; so they never have an excuse not to answer or return your call 😉

christian lacroix ombre sticky note folio

Christian Lacroix Paris Paseo Sticky Note Folio:  Sugg. Retail $13.00

I’ll be honest; I rarely take notes or write anything down on actual paper any more; because, in the event that I do, it quickly gets tossed in some sort of OCD cleaning spree, prior to being useful.  This embossed ombré, sticky note filled folio is so cute though, I set it on my desk, just in case I need to jot something down and stick it to my macbook screen…to remind myself of something that I will actually see before I toss it!  It’s all ‘chic put-together adult’ on the outside and a party on the inside!

unplugged dusti stick on screen cleaners

Unplugged Dusti Screen Cleaner(s):  Sugg. Retail $5.99

This is a cute little set of 3 stick on screen cleaners for all of your many devices.  I’ve had some of these before; you simply stick them on your screens (or the back of your phone case) and they are readily available to wipe smudges from your screens (or sunglasses) at any time.

PSMH Baggu Duck Bag black

Baggu Duck Bag:  Sugg. Retail $26.00

This is a durable and versatile tote made from a recycled canvas type fabric with matte silver hardware.  The straps are adjustable so you can change up the length to wear it different ways.  I’m kind of struggling to find a good use for the bag, personally..it has kind of a book bag look and feel to it…before the days everyone was required to use a giant backpack to tote their school items back and forth.  The version I received is just solid black, and while it is nice enough; it’s not really big enough to replace my larger bags on day or weekend trips..too small for travel and not really what I’d use to replace a purse/bag or shopping tote.  What would you use your for?  I honestly have a huge over abundance of bags:  Here a free bag, there a free bag, everywhere a free bag..

cookie pop popcorn

The Food Item:

Cookie PopPopcorn Cookies & Cream:  Sugg. Retail

This stuff didn’t last long in my house.  I swear my nearly 5 year old has a nose that senses sweets entering the house.  I had to take my photographs with a nearly empty bag as he placed his claim on day one.  He did allow me to share with him and the stuff was pretty good; not overly sweet, with an Oreo like cookie taste.  Great snack for those with a sweet tooth..or a 5 year old. 🙂

Those post-its!! I don’t get overly excited about notes and jotting things down either, but with post-its like those, I would be using them left and right!
