It’s time to check out this month’s [September] Must Have Mini. This is the box’ 6th month and while it appears they didn’t decide to go with the 3 item box again this month, it was still a good box. This month’s box featured an accessory item as well as a beauty item. While the beauty item was a total miss for me; I think a lot of people like and use a product like it. Either way; I love the accessory item so much, I’m OK with it…

Sparklepop Heartbeat Necklace: Sugg. Retail $33.00
I adore this necklace. It was a great pick by PSMH. When I opened the box and saw it, I had to photograph it right away so I could wear it. I love the rose gold tone and the heartbeat design. It’s such a cute everyday necklace that will not go unnoticed. The necklace comes packaged in a nice little box, which is great anyway, but also helpful if you decide it would make a better gift for someone else. The only thing I will say, and this is true of a different piece I own from Sparklepop; their chains come off a bit cheap looking, in that overly shiny way. It looks very cute on though and the other Sparklepop necklace I own is still in tact, so that’s good.

Makeup Eraser Amplilash Instant Fiber Lash Extensions: Sugg. Retail $39.00 (Sale Price $28.00)
Ok so, when I first saw the box and packaging of this product, I was intrigued; and then I saw what it was. I know that a lot of people out there must like this type of product, otherwise there would not be a billion people selling Younique, right? I am not one of those people. I’ve tried the Younique mascara and I’ve tried this. I’ll start out with the pros and then I’ll tell you why [I don’t care for it.]
Pros: The outer packaging is really cute as are the smooth sleek ‘Mascara’ & Fiber tubes. If you like the Younique fiber mascara duo, you will likely like this as well. (I achieved the same results and found it to be extremely similar) And finally, if you have extremely short sparse lashes you certainly can achieve longer lashes.
Now; here is how I feel about the product: While the product does give you length, it’s not that great at building volume, which is what I lack. While this product is very build-able, I do not like the spidery look it gives my lashes. The product requires you to first use the gel/serum/mascara and then to apply the fibers over the top. You are then to go over the lashes with the gel/serum/mascara again…repeating the process until you are satisfied with the results. The fibers are loose and while many people claim that they never get them in their eyes, once you do, you likely won’t want to use it anymore. If you have sensitive eyes, one teensy little fiber in your eye is a nightmare. I love mega lashes and I like two step products to build length and volume prior to applying my mascara; but I prefer the fiberized white lash primers, like Manna Kadar, Lashfood, UD Subversion, Loreal’s new Voluminous version and even the $5.00 Hard Candy version. These keep the fibers contained, condition your lashes and a quick swipe across leaves them ready for a few coats of mascara. I can achieve the length and volume this way, in half of the time, without the chunky spider lashes that I get from this. Good news; I took some photos for you. 😉
This is the ‘Mascara’ Step 1 & Step 3
…and here are the fibers, step 2
My results:
Ok, as you can see both eyes have lashes that look fairly lengthened. The eye on the left side of the photo was with the Amplifiber extension set and a whole lot of back and forth. The eye on the right was a few quick swipes of my Dinoplatz Escalator Mascara. I’d say the length is about the same, the volume is not too amazing on either and the Amplifiber looks clumpy.
Here is the close-up of the fiber duo eye
…and a side view of both (you can see how much more uniform the eye to the right is)
and there you have it. I’m not a fan of this process, personally, but some people totally love it. Mascara is one of those products that one will claim a holy grail while another claims it does nothing…and that is why there are a million different types. I’m curious; who liked this product or likes similar products? I can’t be the only one that does not, can I?
What did you think of this month’s mini? The dollar value of this one was good, even with the mascara sale price, which put it at $61.00 vs. the PSMH card value of $72.00. I’m glad I loved the necklace so much b/c it made up for the mascara…
Stay tuned; the full sized September version will be arriving soon!
