3b Beauty Beyond Borders September 2016

Hey, Beauties near & far!  I’m crazy about this new(er) little company and their vision!  So, won’t you join me as we dig in to my 5th installment of the 3b box, Beauty beyond borders?!

This month’s super ingredient; Honey!

Honey boasts so many excellent skin benefits, from soothing and moisturizing to its antibacterial properties; making it an excellent choice even for those struggling with breakouts!  It’s packed full of antioxidants to slow the aging process and helps to clarify skin by opening up the pores, to unclog them.  If you are in need of a complexion boost; keep on the ‘honey’ side of things! 😉

3b is a growing startup based in Seattle, bringing you products from Japan, Korea & Taiwan.  As a member; each month, you will receive a bag filled with multiple samplings and a postcard containing instructions on how to use all of your new products!  Billing and shipping begins around the 21st-22nd of each month.  You can follow along on Instagram @the3bbox for tips and other info such as key ingredients.  The brand is currently in the process of gaining you exclusive access to full sized products so you can stock up on your favorites after sampling!   The samples inside are either deluxe or contain multiples of the smaller foil packs and such, providing enough of the product to determine whether it’s a win or not! (plus some full sized masks and products.)

What to expect:

For $12.00 each month you will receive

*NEW – Beginning October 7th 3b has adjusted their pricing for new subscribers from $12.00 per month to $15.00 (existing subscribers are locked in for 2 years at the original cost.) This will be the cost for those that pay month-to-month.  A 6th month subscription breaks down to $14.00 per month and a year’s subscription to $12.00 per month.

  • A pouch containing four to five deluxe Asian beauty samples that are new or popular in Asia but hard to get your hands on. The products will change each month, and you’ll get to try new skincare, haircare, nailcare, and cosmetic products. Sample products range from go-to brands such as Lioele, Etude House and Skinfood to high-end premium brands like SK-II, Kanebo, and Sulwhasoo. • Tips on how to use products
  • Unlimited access to our team to answer any questions you might have

From the Company (their story):

3B is the product of a few friends, trips around the globe, and the vision of changing the way we all discover beauty products overseas. In places like Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, we discovered some of the best beauty products we’ve ever used– but they were just incredibly hard to find back home.

So many of us can spend hours reading product reviews, never being quite sure about what works, nervous about making a commitment to such a large and expensive bottle. 3B’s mission is to eliminate borders when it comes to finding the perfect beauty products. Some of our favorite products come from Asia, but sadly we can’t all take a flight to Japan to find the newest eye cream. 3B takes away the guesswork and lets you try amazing products that may feel out of reach. We’re constantly on the lookout for hidden gems that are making their way on the market, or classic go –to products. Sign up for 3B and re-imagine global beauty with us.

The ‘Bag’:

The Goods:

The ‘Honeys’

Etude House Honey Cera Eye Serum & Honey Cera Cream: Deluxe Samples.  Full Size $16.69-24.00 (prices vary by retailer)

I went over the many benefits of Honey above and these two goodies are packed full of additional fab ingredients as well.  The eye serum contains honey, ceramide, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide.  Together, this powerhouse, works to nourish, firm, hydrate and brighten the eye area; plus, it’s light, so you can use it in the AM or use it underneath an eye cream.   The cream is really nice, it has more of a floral honey scent, It gave me good moisture where I needed it after just one evening while calming and soothing my skin without causing any breakouts.  It doesn’t feel heavy and absorbs well.

Welcos Kwailnara Aloe Vera Moisture Real Soothing Gel:  Full Size around $12.00

I just recently finished a huge tub of Aloe and it’s always good to have more on hand.  Aloe is ultra soothing for a plethora of skin issues for even the most sensitive skin types.  This version has been my very favorite, being 100% alcohol free, made with 98% pure organic aloe with some added vitamin e and cucumber extract.

Heimish All Clean Balm:  Deluxe Sample.  Full size $18.50

This cleanser is a fan favorite for sure and while I can’t get over my fear of oil cleansers, as I’ve had a lot of bad experience with them; they work well to remove makeup as a first cleanse, while locking in moisture and softening the skin.  This version has a melt point similar to dipping in to a jar of coconut oil.  The oil it melts in to is very light and I do feel I am able to remove all traces of the oil during my second cleanse.  This version contains shea butter, coconut extracts and botanical oils and is free of parabens, as well artificial fragrance and coloring.

Skin 79 Super Plus Triple Function BB Cream:  Deluxe Sample.  Full Size $11.24

I’m not a huge BB cream person but I really liked this one.  Apparently it’s really hot in Asia right now and I get why:  This BB Cream contains sebum controlling agents such as Kava and purslane extract making it work well for combo skin types.  The coverage is excellent, medium to full, and it contains an SPF of 25 PA+++  This BB cream gives beautiful coverage and leaves skin dewey, not oily.  It is light, but the tone of it is unique to any I’ve tried in K beauty BB creams or makeup in general, and it works really well with my skin.  It doesn’t break me out and the finish is really nice.  Great product.

Perfect blend, beautiful finish

I finally found a BB Cream that impressed and I really dig the honey duo.   The full sized aloe was a nice touch as well.  I’m still impressed with this little sampling sub.  I think this sub would be a great intro for anyone wanting to try out Asian beauty products on a budget.  Totally digging this company and looking forward to seeing how they grow!

    1. For me; yea, but I don’t know that everyone would feel the same. It is technically considered a sampling subscription so it is mostly deluxe samples, which are hard to put an actual value on. I pay $12.oo a month and while often times It’s all deluxe samples and a sheet mask (this sub generally puts the pricier sheet masks in $5.oo+) there is only sometimes a full size product in it. (like the aloe this month) Everywhere I looked that aloe was around the cost of this bag and it’s a great product. The value in this bag for me is in the products they send. I have used every drop of every single product they have sent in the 5 months I have subscribed and went on to purchase full sized items of at least 6 of them, making it one of my favorite little subs..and the only sub I can say that about. I can sometimes add up a value of 60+ dollars on my ipsy bags…but if I only use one of the items..it’s pretty moot. So it’s all in perspective I guess. Sephora’s bag is 10 per month and it’s comprised of only small samples; I actually prefer this one to that as I don’t get a bunch of the same old items that I have been getting free forever. Cons of this sub are that they have no point perks or anything like that and I was about to say no store to purchase the full size items; yet, as I was typing I just saw an email come through that they have just launched their store now too! I’ve been thinking they might grow in to something a bit more. So; it’s definitely a matter of opinion, but I’ve not felt disappointed yet.
