Hey Birchbox fans! My October Birchbox; Soothing Standouts, is all about reviving and restoring. Well; one thing is for certain, there was definitely a standout item in this box! Good thing I had hung on to all of the Birchbox points I had acquired prior to the ‘no more points for reviews’ shift…[because this item is a must]
This Month I let Birchbox choose my goods as opposed to the featured box. I haven’t been real in to any of the curated boxes lately, they’ve been rather repetitive to me. I’ve been mostly picking the one sample choice option or leaving it entirely open. This month I chose my one sample and what a sample it was! I’d love to hear your thoughts on Birchbox since they’ve initiated their changes.

The Goods:
Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask: Deluxe Sample. Full size $58.00
I’ll start with the hero item of this box, and pretty much what this entire box review is all about; the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask. I’ve seen Tata Harper around for some time now, but it’s a pricey brand and because I’ve never had the pleasure (until recently) of trying anything from the brand, I’ve held off. It took one use. This is one of those rare products that just really makes an impact on your skin right away. The mask itself is a wash-off type, smells somewhat odd, but isn’t terrible and is a fleshy-peach hued, thick gel consistency. It does not look to be capable of super powers, but it’s truly magical. It says to apply a thick layer all over skin (this saddened me as I realized I would only get two uses from the sample) and leave on for 30 minutes. It’s a long-ish masking time, but the results are totally worth it! I honestly could not believe how much better my skin looked and felt once I was washed this mask off. My skin looked ultra smooth and soft, plump and bouncy but so much brighter, almost glow-y. I was super happy that I had hung on to my birchbox points, waiting on that must have product so now my full sized version is on its way. Hurray!! I also recently tried the Tata Harper Purifying mask and it is a really great mask as well. I want so many Tata Harper products now!
Juice Beauty Cleansing Milk: Travel Size. Full Size $22.00
So; I’m not a big fan of Juice beauty…It’s not a terrible brand, it’s just that I have received a ton of it over the years and it is never really right for me. Everything about it always sounds great, in theory…but just never really works out for my skin. There have been 1 or 2 products that I have liked…but 10 I haven’t, so it is just not a brand I get excited about. This cleansing milk I’ve not tried before and so far, I actually like it. I have used it a few days in a row now as my first step cleanser, first step cleansers are where I just can’t ever seem to fall in love with a product. My face just really does not tolerate oil cleansers well and while this light milky cleanser doesn’t feel like much, it seems to dissolve my makeup away and soothes my skin at the same time. It seems gentle and it has the typical juice beauty scent, kind of lemon-aid like.
Escada Joyful: Sample Vial. Full size $74.00
I loathe getting perfume samples in subscription boxes and I knew as soon as I saw the name of this scent I would not like it. Joyful. It’s basically the exact opposite of anything I would wear. It smells too joyful. 😉 Sweet, fruity/floral. Too sweet, boring & predictable. On that note; I hope I didn’t just dog on your favorite perfume, lol. Honestly though, scent preference is totally personal, and they smell differently on each individual. This fragrance is simply not my type.
Parlor by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing Shampoo & Conditioner Packet: Sample. Full Size $22.00 Each
This is a good quality brand, I’ve tried a couple of other items too, and the scent is nice. The formula worked well with my dry, thick hair type helping the condition and moisture levels…and that is basically what I look for in a shampoo and conditioner.
LOC One & Done Shadow Stick: Full size $10.00
I wasn’t excited about this product at all, yet turns out; I love it. I’ve received several of the LOC pencils since their Birchbox line and I never cared much for the lippy versions I received, the eye shadow sticks were always lighter bland shades and didn’t even look as good as a hurried swipe of my favorite eye-shadow..but this version in this gun metal shade (smoke screen) is pretty fabulous, making it super fast and easy for me to look like I put forth an effort when I have only a minute to do it. Most days I do a liquid lined cat eye and mascara…depending on the day and the time I have, I build on that look, or I build on it a lot. This product is dark enough to where I can omit eyeliner all together and not think I look weird, having light lashes and such. I just kind of line the top, then the bottom, smudge them both, mascara and done. This particular LOC product, was actually a win.
