Hey everyone! Welcome to another Glam Bag review!
This month’s theme is: Black Magic
Make Some Magic
Below is a shot of my October bag:
Seriously, this bag.
A shot up close for detail and cute little ghost zipper pull. The quality of this one is good too.
Ipsy is a monthly subscription service. Each month, subscribers will receive an awesome Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Members can watch and play along with the stylists with the same products that they are using. All for only $10 a month.
I have been a member for more than 3 years and I absolutely love it. I have discovered so many excellent products through Ipsy! I may not always love everything I receive but for only 10.00 a month it is such a fun surprise to look forward to each month! Ipsy spotlights numerous brands each month and you will generally receive something from 5 of them! In addition to the products received you will get discount codes from most brands…even the ones that you do not receive! This months’ discounts include but are not limited to: Too Faced, Nuxe, Make, Valfré, Eyeko, Living Proof… and many more, the discounts range between 10% -50% off purchase (averaging at 20-25%) and are occasionally a dollar amount. They sometimes include a gift with purchase.
Ipsy also offers curated sets and other products throughout the month that can be purchased at a special price! I LOVE THESE! Current set specials available are from: The Balm & Pür Cosmetics
Another perk is the point system. You can review your bag and items each month to save points for additional products!
Ipsy also has a giveaways section. Every month, you can win AMAZING hauls from their Glam Bag partners..and let me tell you there are SO many great ones each month…This month there are contest/giveaways from: MeMeMe, Pür Cosmetics, Lottie London, Nyx, ciate, Estee Lauder, Kat Von D… and so many more!
So go ahead, take the beauty quiz, get your first Glam Bag, watch the videos, and create your own!
The Goods:
Lottie London Perfectly Precise Eye Shadow Brush: $?
This brush works great and it’s a nice looking brush too. It appears to be a London Based brand available at UK drugstores. I could not find too much as far as US availability. I found one site, link provided, and while they carry many of the brushes, I did not see this exact brush. The other eyeshadow brushes ran around $6-$7.00.
treStique Matte Lip Crayon in Belize Bordeaux: 1 mini lip crayon. A trio is $32.00
I’ve received a lot of these treStique mini lip and eye crayons in my ipsy bags. They are nice enough and they have a whole system that minimizes the amount of products you need and the space they take up, (dual ended customizing) but the minis do not work like the full sized products. This is a shade I will likely never wear b/c I’m just not comfortable in red or bold dark reds, wines etc…but it’s a great fall shade nonetheless.
Swatch
NYX Cosmetics Vivid Brights Liner in Gunmetal: Full size $7.00
I have a couple of these in actual colors, bold, bright, shades and they are pretty fun. You can really amp up the look of your winged liner with these. The silver is pretty, but it doesn’t show up on my eyes all that great, I can add a little to accent the black, but just the silver alone would not work for me. I think this shade would have the best pop on very dark complexions.
Extreme close-up swatch, sticking with the theme 😉
Makeup For Ever Ultra HD: Foundation Mini. Full Size $43.00
I received this in the shade Marble and though it is quite a bit lighter than the shade I currently wear, the tone works. I own this in my actual shade and purchased it some months ago. I really hoped to love it based on how many others do, but it didn’t end up being the dream foundation I had hoped for. I have so much trouble finding a foundation I like, and I do not like to compromise, adding tons of additional products to make it work, blotting all of the time, etc…The coverage is fine, I just didn’t love the way it appeared on my skin and I felt it made me look way too oily far too quickly. I’ve had better luck with others.
Pür Cosmetics Dirty Girl Detoxifying Mudd Masque With Pascalite Clay: Travel Size. full Size $29.00
This is a serious detox mud mask. I spread the tan like clay over the majority of my skin, the texture was pretty smooth and it had a scent of something astringent. The packaging says to leave on 5-10 minutes. The site says to leave on until mask begins to crack. The mask begins to harden directly after applying and it begins feeling extremely tight, with a little tingle. I could really feel this mask squeezing my face. Despite this, it washes off with warm water easily. My face felt a bit tight after removing but I am also using some peeling pads that contribute to this too…my skin looked smooth, calm, brighter and felt soft to the touch, cool and refreshed. Pores looked and felt clean. I was really impressed with this mask, it really performed. It’s a tad bit intense, but if you want a detox mask that truly performs, this one does
This month’s actual bag was really great. Though some alternate shades would have been preferred there were some good products. I may give the MUFE foundation another go when it cools down, maybe it will make a better winter option for me. The mask is great and I love masks and skin pampering in general, so that was a nice score for me. What did you think? Anyone score any great new products in their bags this month?
