Allure Beauty Box December 2015

Hey Beauty Fans!

Today I will be reviewing the December Allure Beauty Box.

For $15.00 per month you will receive a box containing 5 or more deluxe sized beauty products from today’s most luxurious brands.

One of my favorite things about the Allure Beauty Box is how carefully it is curated and the awesome little mini mag that is included in each box.  It gives excellent descriptions and tips for each item in the box with a descriptive and down to earth introduction to the boxes content.  I love the beauty directors honest representation of each product.

The Goods:

Blackberry Absinthe Illume Candle

Illume Blackberry Absinthe Candle: (travel tin) This scent comes in a number of products and candle styles ranging from $13.50 -$45.00

This is a Paraffin & Soy Wax Blend Candle in a travel style tin, smelling of Blackberry and orange with hints of patchouli and sandalwood.  It’s just festive enough and a good winter scent.  It burns longer than you would expect and has an aroma that is potent enough to fill a room.  I love getting candles and I really enjoy this scent.  I’m a fan of Illume candles in general.

Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Gel

SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel: This is a nice size deluxe sample vial.  Full price is $78.00 for 30 milliliters.

This product is described as an oil free serum meant to Moisturize and heal the skin.  I just mentioned in last month’s review how much I have enjoyed receiving nice samples of these high dollar, luxury oils and serums each month in my Allure box.  I have been using them every evening in my skin routine and not only have they all been fabulous they have improved my skin in a really noticeable way.  I have been using this one the past several evenings and I am loving the results of my morning skin.  Bye Bye dry!  Hello plumped and dewey!  The bottle calls this a gel, Allure describes it as a serum.  I find that the most accurate depiction of it’s texture is that of Aloe Vera straight from an aloe plant, a tad less slimy, but it has a real natural feel.  I use it under my moisturizer, focusing on the ‘around the mouth’ area.  It’s really great stuff.  There were 4 different options that you could have received from this brand and now I am dying to get my hands on the SkinCeuticals Blemish+Age Defense serum version.  This one sounds like it would have been the ideal formula for my skin concerns.  I wish that I could try a sample prior to spending $88.00 on it though… Anybody get this version in your box or have tried it before?

Klorane Dry Shampoo

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk: This is the travel size version and is $9.00 (Full size is $20.00 for 150 Milliliters)

If you are new to this product or dry shampoos in general; they are meant to ‘degrease’ your hair in between ‘wet’ shampooing, extend the life of your blowouts and boost volume.  This version is great for dark haired gals as it doesn’t have the powdery residue that most do and contains corn and rice starches for absorbing dirt and oil.  Spritz on your roots and let it sit a couple  of minutes prior to brushing or working it through your hair.

Smashbox Photo finish primer allure

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer – Oil Free: This is a deluxe sample.  The full size product is $36.00

Smashbox describes their primer as ‘The original blur’ and this multiple award winning primer has a cult following for a reason with many brands mimicking it with similar formulas.  I’m sure most of my readers out there have used this product at some point.  I’m quite certain it was the first primer I ever used many, many years ago.  With so many skin specific formulas out now I use several different primers for different occasions, looks and skin issues that pop up but this has always been one of my go to primers for normal skin days due to its light, comfortable finish and its pore filling and skin blurring properties.  And, thanks to subscription box samples, I’m very well stocked!

Avene Body Oil

Avène Eau Thermale Body Oil: This is a travel sized bottle.  The full size is $26.00

This is a nourishing body oil designed for dry and very dry skin, rich in plant based oils, designed to leave dry, parched skin feeling soft and comfortable.  This oil has a grassy like scent that some may not be fond of but it doesn’t really bother me; I kind of like it.  This oil works really good for those of us that are in dire need of serious moisture.  I like it better than the overly thick and greasy clinical anti-itch lotions for certain.  I find it’s best used following a bath/shower in the evening or just for dry spot treatment by day.  I would not want to be ‘basted’ in this product while going about my daily routines.

POP Cosmetics Kajal pen

POP Beauty Kajal Pen in Inky Purple:  This product is full size and is $10.00

This is described as a dark grayish purple flattering on both light and dark eyes.  Unfortunately everyone has brands that they are just not a fan of, unfortunately this one happens to be one of mine.  I just do not ‘get’ this brand, if that makes any sense… This is described as a ‘kajal pen’ which in my experience are generally softer and more ‘smudgey’ but this one is pretty hard and does not glide on too smoothly.  The little smudger on the end requires a crazy light hand to keep from erasing the liner away completely or at least spots of it.  The saving grace of this product is the color.  I love the gray/purple shade and do not own a similar shade so I will use it despite not being big on the formula.

Chapstick Total Hydration

ChapStick Total Hydration in Soothing Vanilla:  This was a special extra, gift from ChapStick and retails for $2.94 at walmart.com

This is a 100% Natural, hydrating lip balm with Argan and Rosehip oils.  It’s a great balm and the soothing vanilla has a slight mint scent to it as well, reminding me of the ‘butter mints’ you always find at weddings and showers.  It’s not super soft so I find I need to coat it continuously on my lips before getting enough product.  Overall; it’s pretty goods stuff!

What did you think of this month’s box?!  If you are interested in a subscription you can check it out here

Thanks for Reading!

Until Next Time…

There are so many subscription boxes now days. There are people who have lists of all of the sub boxes (on their sites/blogs) that ship to the US and it’s flat out overwhelming going through all of them. I found a new one yesterday that is a Canadian sub box but says it ships to the US. It looks fabulous but I wonder what the shipping costs and time would be like. There are several others I would like to try but I get stressed out trying to decide on new ones! I do really love this Allure Box. It’s been one of my favorites.
