Glossybox December 2015

Today I will be reviewing my December Glossybox.  (There are generally a few variations in products) Glossybox is a monthly subscription box that boasts 5 luxury beauty products each month, wrapped up in a lovely pink box. The products are often full sized, if not; they are deluxe sized samples. The cost of the subscription is 21.00 per month with free shipping.

Glossybox has a classic monthly box but often does a special edition or collab/partner edition that replaces their regular box.  These boxes generally have a unique box with special artwork or are labeled with the partnering brands/company’s logos etc. They are specially curated to fit the theme or contain some of the most popular brands/products spotlighted by said partnering brands/companies.  I get really excited for these boxes. (The October 2015 box was one of these ‘types’ of Glossyboxes.)  The special edition boxes alone are often great for display or re-use in some way or another.  In addition to these unique monthly versions Glossybox also curates special, limited edition, [additional] one time purchase boxes, ie: Holiday, Mothers day etc. (you can scroll through the past boxes here -just scroll down the linked page a bit to view past boxes.) * If it does not have a month in the title than it is a special edition one time, additional purchase box, other wise it was the box included in your subscription.

I just recently reviewed my Special Edition Holiday (2015) Glossybox and  P.S. It’s awesome with an incredible value!

…and now on to December’s box.  I was pretty underwhelmed at first sight of this month’s box, (again) I expected the content to be a bit more festive and not just the box itself, (which is gorgeous btw).  I guess the nail polish shade would be considered somewhat festive but I keep receiving this shade…  I’m really excited about the face cream and lash food though, so that’s a win!  Check it out for yourself!

The Goods:

EMK Supra Face Cream

EMK Beverly Hills Supra Face Cream: deluxe sample; full size product is $142.00 for 1.7 0z

I had not heard of this brand prior to receiving it in this box and the packaging itself does not stand out in any way; so I was not sure what to expect from this product.  Glossybox describes this product as very innovative with patented technology and lots of natural ingredients meant to plump, firm and protect your skin.  I have been using this product for 3 days now and I tend to agree.  Fist things first, to get this out of the way:  The smell.  While the site and even some reviewers describe the scent as pleasant; I found the product to smell a lot like ‘permanent solution’ [for the hair] Yes, due to the time frame I grew up in I have an imprint of that smell on my brain!  Lets just say pleasant is not how I would describe the scent of this product!  Luckily, the strength of said scent fades fairly quickly b/c I woke up with totally different skin.  I honestly can not believe how much better my skin looked after just one evening of using this product over my facial serum.  The fine lines around my mouth looked plumped and my little dry patches were nearly gone.  It’s only gotten better after several days of use.  I love what this product does for my skin and best of all, no breakouts; in fact, the spots that were hanging around due to excessive dryness are now gone.  Great product, hefty price tag but seemingly worthy of it.

Lash Food Lash Primer

LashFood Conditioning Lash Primer: Travel Size; Full size is $20.00 for .27 oz.

This is the other product I am most excited about.  I have been using the Manna Kadar lash primer, which is amazing and transforms my lashes, but I am nearly out and have high hopes for this product which I have heard some good things about. It contains the lash plumping ingredients and fibers but also claims to condition and improve your lashes over time.  Unfortunately I have yet to try this product b/c I do not like to waste my mascaras and primers, they dry out fast enough as it is; so I will be waiting until I finish my Manna K prior to opening this product.  If anyone has tried this I would love to hear about your experience.

MTJ High Definition Mascara

MTJ Cosmetics High Definition Mascara: This is full size and is $21.00 .32 oz.

This is another brand I’ve not heard of prior to this box and another product I have yet to try until finishing some of my already in use mascaras.  I did speak to someone who mentioned that they really liked this product and the unique brush.  I could not find much about the brand online or anywhere to purchase it in the US, really.  It appears to be a product of Italy.  Anyone else have any experience with this product?

Glossybox 'Mauve' shadow

Glossybox Eyeshadow in Glossybox Mauve:  Full size $11.00

I’m assuming there is no way to purchase this aside from getting the box itself, but I can’t be certain.  This shadow is describes as a pearl-infused aubergine.  I photographed this product numerous times, in natural sunlight but it always came out looking mostly grey in the pot.  If you look closely at the swatch you can see the mauve coming out a bit around the edges.  It’s a unique shade but did require several coats to achieve my swatch.

Color club polish

Color Club Nail Polish in ‘Feverish’:  Full sized $8.50

I liked this shade on much better than I initially expected to.  It’s pretty and festive, shiny and I like the formula.  I think it will look nice as a holiday look with a gold designed nail appliqués on top.

I must admit when I saw the supra face cream, I immediately thought about the car…. Lol.
Very nice items though. I wish I could afford getting Glossybox.
