Tarte Limited Edition Tarteist Contour Palette

Today I have for you, the Tarte (Limited-Edition) Tarteist Contour Palette.  First lets talk about the aesthetics; gorgeous, right?  It’s definitely the best looking palette I own and due to the pleasant aroma of hot cocoa that takes over your senses when opened; it’s the best smelling contour palette as well. (light, not too heavy on the chocolate notes)

The circumference of the palette is nearly 4 1/2″, 3/4″ deep and quite sturdy.  It’s very well made &high quality.  The compact is mirrored and contains 6 scrumptious shades: A white, nearly translucent shade, 1 correcting shade, 1 highlighting shade, a blush and two contouring shades.

The shades are very nice too.  It’s a no glitter palette, including the highlight shade which has a very fine, light reflecting gleam.  The texture of the powders are very fine, smooth and not quite creamy like the Anastasia Palette but can give you a more sheer contour b/c of this, if you prefer.

As far as the shade range and tone goes: if you own either the NYX palette or the Anastasia palette in light/Medium, the peachy/pink highlighter and yellow corrector are a bit lighter in the Tarte palette than that of the NYX and Anastasia versions.  The lighter contour shade is nearly identical to Anastasia’s ‘Fawn’ contour shade (bottom row, center in the light/medium palette.)  It just goes on a bit less intense with one pass.  The darker contour shade is a bit darker and much cooler than any shade in my Anastasia Palette.  It’s a great shadow mimicking shade.

This is a great palette, the differences between this and other great multi shade contour palettes is subtle.  The texture of Anastasia powders are second to none but I kind of like that this one is a bit more sheer…a little less blending to do.  It’s a bit more fine and smooth than the Nyx Cosmetics version but not too different.  Some of you may prefer a darker, more yellow, correcting shade if you have substantial dark circles under your eyes.  Because the included shades work well for me,  a blush is included and the scent and packaging are so fun; it’s definitely a favorite product of mine!

In light of my love for Tarte; who else is swooning over their two newest collections: Rainforest of the Sea & Double Duty Beauty?

I have this palette and it’s so pretty to look at! I love the contouring shades, but the other shades don’t really show up or do much for my fair skin. For some reason when I apply the blush, it shows up well, but then it quickly vanishes! I have so many of their other blushes in both palettes as well as their individual blushes and this never happens. It’s the strangest thing, lol. So, I have to ask, does the blush in your contour palette last well on your skin?? Great review, btw, and your pictures are beautiful!! 💜🌹

Thank you so much for the compliments! ❤ I do really need to invest in a good, real camera and not just my iphone but I am so indecisive that I keep putting it off. Yea, I have just enough color/tan and different enough tone to where they do show up…but they are definitely not super prominent; but when I want extra highlight(ed) looks I have many others that give a more dramatic look. I kind of prefer this palette for a nice full look but a bit subtle as that is my typical makeup style (aside from my eyeliner) 🙂 I do prefer the darker 'banana' yellow shade in my other palettes though. (The white, I assume, is basically just a setting powder. That's how I used it.) As for blush; you know, I will test its 'last-ability' on me and get back to you. I think blush is always the first to fade no matter what I use. It seems to me too, that any time I buy a face palette, even from brands that I love all individual products from, there is always one part of it that doesn't seem to be as good as the other parts. Weird how that works when you know they are capable, right?! I'm not a big blush person though. I've tried this one a couple of times and do like the dustier shade that works with a contour but I typically do not wear blush so I guess I didn't notice how quickly or when it faded. I prefer contour and a little highlight to make my cheekbones pop. I always feel 'too much' when I add blush to my look. When I do wear blush, I usually go for a 'flush like' stain/cream and just do the apples, which is typically when I do not put anything else on my face and need some color stat!

I love it…when it comes to the contour palettes; most most of the well knows brands have good versions and many are quite similar in the mid to high end range. I have so many but as far as having to chose one it ends up coming down to the little things. The shades, edition of a blusher, packaging and scent make this a number one pick for me. 🙂 I’m a big Tarte fan. If you like to own and try several or are looking to purchase your first one; either way, this is a good choice. [In my opinion] 🙂
