Hey Beauty Fans! I’m back! Miss Me? So much to review, so little time left in August… Luckily; I received a lot of my subs and other items the morning that I headed out so I packed some of them up to try on my trip. I arrived at my home yesterday afternoon after 12 hours of traveling and did little but unpack and eat poorly…Today, I made it a priority to get back on something resembling my typical routine. Because I was somewhat successful in that endeavor; I have for you:
The August Allure Beauty Box.
For $15.00 per month you will receive a box containing 5 or more deluxe sized beauty products from today’s most luxurious brands.
One of my favorite things about the Allure Beauty Box is how carefully it is curated and the awesome little mini mag that is included in each box. It gives excellent descriptions and tips for each item in the box with a descriptive and down to earth introduction to the boxes content. I love the beauty director’s honest representation of each product.
The Box:
The Goods:
Freeze 24-7 Anti-Aging Eye Serum: Deluxe Sample. Full Size $115.00
This is a line smoothing eye cream that delivers instant, but temporary results, yet also claims (with continued use) to reduce puffiness and soften lines long term as well. This stuff definitely delivers on the instant part. It really smooths my under eye area and erases the little lines that show mostly due to dry skin and the need for more hydration. The instant effect works due to amino butyric acid which is said to temporarily relax the muscles. Because the product is also really moisturizing; I don’t feel that after a few hours I’m looking at my eyes like ‘yikes, I’m wrinkled again’..or anything that drastic. The product itself is thin and milky, more like a gel-cream or a serum and it comes out pretty fast. It doesn’t feel like anything but a cool gel on the skin, which dries light and very slightly powdery. It has no scent and is said to be fine for sensitive skin. I took this with me on my trip and loved using it every morning. My under eye area felt refreshed, de-puffed and smooth. Definitely a fan of this product.
Pūr-Lisse Blue Lotus Balancing Moisturizer: Deluxe Sample. Full Size $55.00
I like Pur-lisse and I think I’ve tried everything from the Blue Lotus Line. In fact; I already own the version of this moisturizer that includes SPF. It is similar, but not quite as light. Everything I’ve tried is nice, some of them I’ve loved. This particular product is a lightweight facial moisturizer designed for normal to dry and sensitive skin. The product is milky and thin, light on the skin and contains antioxidants. This moisturizer feels incredibly light on your skin and disappears to practically nothing, absorbing quickly. The scent is light and pleasant.
Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50: Deluxe Sample. Full size $28.00
I have reviewed this product several times. I have the full sized bottle and this is the third mini that I have received… In fact; it’s not even the first time I’ve received it in an allure box. I like the product but I don’t use it a ton, so I definitely have too much of it! I mostly keep it with me when I am going to spend a good amount of time at the beach or any other scenario with prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Because this product spritzes on you can apply and reapply without touching your face or messing up makeup, when you are wearing it. The product is refreshing and though it smells quite strongly at first, it dissipates fairly quickly in to something more pleasant. It can feel a bit sticky on your skin for a while too, which some find unpleasant. This seems to fade after a bit too. It isn’t perfect but it’s nice to have as a backup or to add an extra dose of sun protection when needed and b/c it’s mattifying, it not only won’t make you shiny, it will fix that for you too and help your makeup to stick around longer.
Mally Mattewand Eye Brightener: Full Size $25.00
This dual ended brightening tool is amazing. This is another product I grabbed the day it arrived and packed it for my trip after quickly sampling. It has a brightening peachy/white toned pencil on one end and a coordinating powder (in lid) on the other end, with a spongey tipped applicator. I apply the shadow allover and then line my lower water line area as well as the inner corners of my eyes with the pencil portion. It’s an instant wakeup making my eyes look bright and rested. Love it!
Cargo Swimmables Eye Pencil in Pebble Beach: Deluxe mini. Full size $18.00
This water resistant eyeliner; I also grabbed and brought with me. Because of its ultra waterproof nature and its very dark brown hue; it makes the perfect tight lining product for my upper lash line. It glides on smooth with minimal irritation, staying, even with my sensitive, sometimes watery eyes. Because it isn’t black, it looks a bit more natural, while still darkening my lash line and disguising my light eyelash roots.
Swatch
Wet Brush Midi Brush: Mid Size Version $8.99
I love the wet brush! I have every size now too. I love this metallic midi version. I have the mini that I use on my son’s hair and the full size that I use on myself. This version is still small enough to toss in most of my bags and great for travel. This is a must have product for brushing wet hair, especially if you have hair that gets really tangly, like mine. It’s a cushion style brush with long, flexible bristles, designed to safely glide through wet hair. Brushing my hair while wet was a ‘hard no’ until receiving the ‘wet brush’. I’ll admit, I was still nervous to try it the first time, but I did, and it’s the only thing I’ve found that safely detangles my wet hair, quickly and easily.
Special Extra:
Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures Shampoo & Conditioner: Travel Size. Full Size $5.47
These two products were not mentioned in the included Allure mini mag but it’s always nice to get some extra items added in. I LOVE products that include and especially that smell of honey and these two smell scrumptious. This inexpensive duo left my hair soft, clean and smelling sweet. I like it!
Pretty good box this month. These products were really handy after a long flight, during a trip which had me constantly spent and always on the go. I love the smooth and refreshed, bright eyes the two eye products provided for me, the new liner that worked on my eyes which were battling my mother-in-law’s cats, as well as the fabulous new travel sized brush! All in all, a successful month! What were your thoughts on this month’s Allure? Favorites?
