We are finally seeing some new spring drugstore products popping up on social media and in-store!  I snagged these two products in store over the weekend: The new Katy Perry Covergirl launch; Katy Kat Matte Lipsticks, that consists of 12 ‘matte’ shades, some very unique to Covergirl (think lavender/purple hues and even a black) plus a new mascara containing tiny fibers to amp up your fringe in a single step.  Lets check them out, shall we?!

The Lipstick:

Katy Kat Matte Lippy Covergirl

Covergirl Katy Kat Matte lipstick by Katy Perry: $6.94

This is a new launch with Katy Perry and Covergirl that consists of 12 lipstick shades with Katy-esque names like: Cosmo Kitty; a purple hue, Perry Panther; black & Sphynx; a pinky nude which is also the shade that I purchased.  I cannot seem to find these available for purchase online, aside from Walmart, which is on a pre-order basis shipping May 15th, link provided above.  The name of the lipstick is definitely a bit deceiving as most will be expecting a true matte but if you read further in to the description of this lipstick it is described as a demi-matte with a soft finish that feels creamy on the lips.  That part is totally true.  While the product is not a true matte shade which will likely annoy many who are purchasing the product for such, it is true to its description and its not a bad lipstick, at least in regards to the single shade that I own.  The lipstick glides on nice and smooth with a creamy texture and basically remains that way.  It does not dry to a true matte finish.  This is good news for those whom cannot handle the drying formulas of traditional matte lipsticks.  I personally like the demi-matte formula; the finish is closer to a cream, not shiny but not exactly matte and feels very comfortable on the lips with good coverage and decent staying power.  I like the shade selection and am actually kicking myself for not grabbing the purple shade as it may be a while before I can get my hands on these again!

The Mascara:

Cover Girl The Supersizer Fibers

Covergirl Super Sizer Fibers Mascara: $6.74

Here is another product that is so new I cannot find a link to purchase anywhere so the link provided is to Covergirl’s site which gives detailed information about the product.  Be on the lookout for this stuff in stores! This mascara claims to give 400% more volume and give users the look of long, dark, amplified lashes with a specialized formula containing built-in fibers for the ultimate false-lash
extension effect.  This stuff seriously delivered.  If you had told me last week that my favorite new mascara would be from Covergirl and under $7.00; I would have laughed at you, seriously.  You always see these glossy ads with extreme close-ups of models sporting what they claim is the mascara they are advertising, yet you are looking at the entirely too perfect, clump-less fringe, resembling a nice set of falsies and shaking your head.  I almost got that look with this product.  I’ll be totally up front with you, my lashes are totally puny and I always do a two step process when I want fabulous lashes.  I generally use a fiberized primer like Manna K’s or Lash Food’s first, then apply my favorite mascara.  Because this product already has fibers in it, I did not want to over do it with the primer; but due to the ultra skinny, spiky brush, I figured I’d gain length and lack in volume.  I put a couple light coats of L’Oreal Voluminous on my lashes and then began applying the Covergirl Fibers Mascara.  This stuff coated and separated my lashes so well, even after tons of layering they continued to remain pliable and stayed so throughout the day.  I did not experience flaking or clumping and did not end up with freaky spider lashes!  I tried it the following day, on its own, and it still gave me surprisingly good results.  You will have to see to believe, so I snapped some up close eye photos for you.

Here it is (above) with the voluminous underneath.  This is definitely the least clumpy, most defined and separated look I have ever been able to achieve while also achieving a mega lash look.  So impressed. (okay, so I did a bit better on the eye to the left, my right eye, which is standard for me and likely most right handed people.) but still!

Above is how it looked used on its own. Ignore my crazy pictures.  It was all about the mascara. 😉

…and here is a close up of the wand/brush.  If you look closely you can see the tiny fibers.  The brush is skinny but widens toward the top with super spiky bristles for stellar lash separating.

Well, that’s a wrap!  2 fabulous new Covergirl items to stalk the drugstore for.  Hope you enjoyed!

Thanks! This mascara definitely took me by surprise. Mascaras seem to always work differently for everyone..and are totally preference, but mine are so lacking…I feel like if I can get these results, then most people can!
