About:

For $15.00 per month you will receive a box containing 5 or more deluxe sized beauty products from today’s most luxurious brands.

One of my favorite things about the Allure Beauty Box is how carefully it is curated and the awesome little mini mag that is included in each box.  It gives excellent descriptions and tips for each item in the box with a descriptive and down to earth introduction to the boxes content.  I love the beauty director’s honest representation of each product.

The Goods:

red-flower-moroccan-rose-tealight-candle

Red Flower Moroccan Rose Candle:  Tea Light.  Full Size $38.00

This is only a tea light version of what sounds like a beautiful candle, topped with tiny dried rose petals, scented with damask-rose oil & patchouli oil.  When it comes to rose scented items, I’m super picky, there is nothing worse than a fake rose scent, but this is rose done right.  The patchouli was a nice touch.  Even this teeny little tea-light threw well in my large room making this photo shoot all the more pleasant.

first-aid-beauty-facial-radiance-pads

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads: (10 count) Full size $30.00 for 60

I’m kind of a super fan of FAB Beauty.  I really love the brand, which is excellent for sensitive skin, very dry skin and problematic skin.  These facial pads are designed to gently exfoliate, tone and brighten your skin, gently, in one simple step.  The key ingredients in these pads are Lactic and glycolic acids for exfoliating, cucumber and indian gooseberry for toning and lemon peel and licorice root extracts for brightening as well as white-tea extracts and feverfew to help fight free radicals.  The pads are textured on one side and have very little smell or scent, nothing astringent.  I use products like this often, so I wouldn’t consider my skin super sensitive, but these did seem very gentle, more so than many similar product types, even used twice a day.

cargo-colorstick-champagne

Cargo Colorstick in Champagne: Full Size $28.00

I must say; I’m becoming a Cargo Beauty fan.  I’ve really liked the products I’ve tried from the brand lately, and this is a great product.  The champagne shade is neutral and flattering and the formula is smooth and creamy; but not too soft.  It’s radiant and not sparkly.  The packaging is nice as well.  Swipe it wherever you desire a luminous glow.

grande-lips-hydrating-lip-plumper

GrandeLips Hydrating Lip Plumper:  Mini.  Full Size $27.00

I recently received this exact product in another box.  I’ve been around beauty fads since the start of lip plumping products, their becoming wildly popular, the fizzling out, and then becoming hot again.  I honestly do not feel like much has changed, they are what they are.  Some more intense, some less so, some more drying, others a bit less, fact is; they do ‘a little’ and they last a short amount of time.  But if you are like me, and just really dig the ‘tingle’, this one has it and it is less drying than many others.  While you are not going to actually get bigger lips (sorry hopefuls) this does plump up the lines in your lips some (temporarily) and the ‘tingle’ makes you want to make a poutier face.  However; if you are sensitive to the ingredients, and apply outside the lip line a bit, it will redden/pinken the area some.  This could almost look like bigger lips, right?! 😉

the-beauty-counter-black-mascara

Beautycounter Lengthening Mascara:  Full Size $29.00

I’m honestly still trying to figure this brand out.  But, that aside, this mascara, with a description like ‘basic’, ‘soft black’ and ‘no unnecessary bells and whistles’  (per Allure) I feel like I’m reading about a home for sale described as quaint, knowing it’s actually just smaller than desired by most.  I know there are people out there with long lashes, thick lashes and naturally dark lashes, but I’m not one of those, so I’m going to need some bells and whistles!  I’ll save this for a friend it might be perfect for.

olay-pro-retinol-eyes

Olay Pro-Retinol Eye Treatment: Full Size $24.99

I’ve heard great things about this newer eye line from Olay, which is just one of 5 in the Olay eyes collection, so I’m glad Allure added this to the box.  While retinol products will take a good amount of time and continued use to show any significant signs of improvement, especially in the lower strengths available without a prescription, this is smoothing and hydrating.  The brand claims a 4 week duration is needed to see reduction in the deepest wrinkles, and I’ve used it for only a week, but plan to use the entire product consistently to see if this holds true.

I thought this month’s box was great, especially value wise; $82.00 in full sized products alone.  The mascara is likely not a fit for me, but it’s sleek and nicely packaged, could be a good product for another.  What did you think of this month’s box?
